Do you take your iron shafts up into your hybrids?

Like so many players these days I’m using a 4H in place of a 4 iron. I've also been experimenting with an Apex UW 19* as my next longest club.

I hit the 4H quite well so I'm unlikely to change the shaft, but it does make me wonder how many people put the same shaft in their 4U or 4H as they have in their 5-PW.

I can understand the arguments for and against this approach. Just curious if anyone uses the same shafts in their long-iron replacements as in their irons.

I play a similar set up and have a mixed bag of shaft brands pending the club. I play the shaft that makes the specific club work best for me. But, all of my shafts feel very similar and transition smoothly since they are timing devices. I can see playing the same brand, but the shaft model/weight would vary most likely. Most people would vary between steel and graphite at this transition point from irons to hybrid/UW/driving iron anyway. I think Webb Simpson played/playing a steel hybrid shaft from my memory.

For me:  Driver - GD Tour IZ, Apex UW 17* - GD Tour AD DI, Hybrids- CK Pro Orange Hy, irons - UST Recoils ES and wedges - stock steel shaft for MD4/5’s.  My wedges are my only clubs with steel shafts at this time. This can be an odd transition point for me if I am not playing regularly.

I do for a 4-hybrid, but it clones the 4-iron it replaces in loft, head weight, swingweight, length, and total weight. So, really it's more a 22* hybrid head on a 4-iron shaft instead of a 4-iron head on a 4-iron shaft. Not a 4-hybrid with an extra inch or more playing length and all.

Beyond that I step down in shaft weight.

I moved to graphite shafts last year in irons and hit them so well, I replaced my 3-hybrid shaft with the same "iron" shaft at 3 iron length and hit it great.  I get I essentially replaced a graphite shaft with another graphite shaft, but being similar to my irons, I get similar results.

I do the same as another poster above. I have a hybrid that is built to the exact specs of my 3 iron (loft, weight, length, etc.) and use the same shaft in both. The hybrid comes in steeper with a bit more spin and is easier to use out of rough and off the tee. The iron option is great for windy days as it keeps the flight down a bit. Also good on courses that are very firm with closely mown grass.

I have a 4 iron length shaft (that matches my irons) with a hybrid surefit hosel.  It feels super short/heavy but worked great out of light rough and was absolutely a weapon around the greens (using it like a putter).  Ultimately I went back to the 4 iron and i'm considering a graphite shafted 4 iron utility.  Once modern clubs/ balls hit about 22 degree of loft for me they can get a little low flighted and flat.  the hybrid went a tough higher than my 4 iron with the same shaft but it wasn't the answer for me.

I am NOT from the hybrid camp, still preferring long irons.  But the composite shaft in my 17' 2 iron is the same as those in my 3 & 4 iron.

I recently replaced my 19 degree hybrid with a 5 wood.  The 19 had a hybrid shaft.  The 23 I’m using now has the same shaft I have in my irons.  When I experimented with the hybrid shaft it went too long for my gaps.  I’m sure I could have got a 24 degree or whatever and used a hybrid shaft and maybe hit it a little higher or something, but the 23 with MMT shaft in it fills my gap really well.  If I played steel in my irons I would probably look at some sort of graphite iron shaft in my hybrid rather than use steel iron shafts, but I can’t fully explain why.

I've tested the MMT 105 and 125TX in hybrid and I don't like the feel.  Too much spin as well.  I tend to launch hybrids high which is why I went with the Ventus Black HB.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
