A bad fit? Lajosi > SC 5.5

Currency gamer. Lajosi Newport 2 style 34" 70* lie pp58 grip , bgt stability shaft. 5hdc who averages 35 putts per round.

I was recently fit into a 35" SC 5.5 bent 2* flat from pgass.

I putt about 30 putts a day indoors and have played about 5 times since. For the life of me I can't use this thing. I can't tell where it's aimed. Every putt seems to go way past the hole. I'm truly lost with what to do. I tried to go back to my lajosi and I can't hit that either. My fitting at pgass was very brief and i admittedly had some doubt early on.

Where do I go from here

Going from a blade to a mallet will take a little getting used to... I did the same, went from my Anser 2 to a Scotty Phantom 5s.  It probably took me a couple rounds to find the speed and ball placement but I am starting to get it.  Putters are such feel clubs, you really have to commit to one and carry it around like it's your baby and get to know it well to have success.  Do you know the headweight on the Lajosi?  Could be different from the Scotty and that could be throwing you off....

That said, if you want to move that Lajosi, LMK!!  Haha

Currently playing off a 1 and I couldn’t get used to the 5.5, even after 6 months.  I feel the flow/balance is off slightly.  JT and the women’s #1 (forgot her name) both went away from the jet neck.  I like the looks and feel of the head.  I think it would be better with a plumbers neck.  As an aside I shot my career low first round after switching away from the 5.5.

Thats kinda how im feeling. Feels like trying tot play it has changed my stroke. Seems to look way closed to me. Coming from just a single dot on the top line. I actually went in and bought a ping prime tyne 34" and was loving it but figured for the price i may as well go for a fitting. Might just swap it out for the ping with my standard specs.

Line it up the same way you would the blade.... forget about the back end of the putter.

Have to agree with this^^^^^  You'll need to find what you like/ feel most comfortable with & stick with it to have any success.....

I get that it can take awhile to get used to a new putter but I personally would not spend very much time unless there was something I loved about it.  For instance, if I always started the ball on my line but had trouble with distance control I would give it awhile to figure it out.  With what your describing I would ditch it in a hurry…

If I was a 5 who was averaging 35 putts per green I would give LAB putters a try.  I think they really would benefit a lot of guys who are not great putters.

Update. Last two rounds over 40 putts. Cant wait for my new fitting this week. Hopefully the guys at Spargo in RI straighten me out.

I think sometimes it’s just a bad fit.  I had the same experience with that putter.  I’m sure it’s me not the design. Definitely game something that you feel comfortable with and like.  Let us know how it goes.

I switched from a 352 gram Lajosi Sensor to a 370 gram National Custom Works Morris and shaved 1 stroke per round putting on average (after playing over 20 good and bad rounds with both). It doesn’t sound like much, but it’s 100% because of the added forgiveness on mishits with the MOI boost. The ball rolls out better when you miss the sweet spot. If you can find a blade you can aim and feel comfortable using, getting that MOI boost could shave an extra stroke off. NCW’s are expensive, but something like the Tri Hot 5K is a little more reasonable. Just some food for thought.

The only way back is to put The old girl back in play - until it comes back to you. You’ll have to pay the dues to get the feel  back. You’ve found what a lot of us found. You can’t aim a mallet.

I ended up getting rid of the 5.5. There just seemed something weird about it. Like i couldnt figure out the loft/lie and where in 3d i was actually aiming.  Trying out the ping prime Tyne 4 pld. If that doesnt work, experiment over. Back to Lajosi.

I like the Tyne 4 PLD.  Don’t know if you bought yet or not. But the first version in my opinion is best.  It has a flat face and blacked out sight line.  It felt and worked differently than any mallet I’ve used.

I bought the new one with the white site line. Seems to be working well. I bought it spec'd the same as my Lajosi, or as close as I could. 2* flat 5* loft.
