No, not an Anser fan but if it was an Anser 4 or Zing then maybe...depending on the price.

Man I’d kill for a solid copper Anser 4…

Problem with that is you'll get a lot of bent and snapped necks because people won't realize how soft copper is.

you would really need to cast it as well, copper does not machine well

not that Ping couldn’t they own a casting company

Tellurium copper cost an absolute fortune and nobody touches beryllium anymore

could probably copper plate for a reasonable build cost

To me, copper is the golf club material which is most pleasing on the eye, especially in a putter. Love that warm glow.

I have a few BeCu Pings in my collection, I putted with a BeCu Anser 5 for over 20 years - and I'd certainly buy a new copper release.

Yep, there's something about that BeCu patina that makes them so aesthetically pleasing.

I've a BeCu Zing2 that looks so good I can't get rid of it.

Well they did mill 55 of them and just sold them but as you said not cheap or easy. Really no way for Ping to do a release for the masses in copper that's cheap and what people want. Just look at the Anser J and K Grinds they did a few years back, $900 for a cast head but there was more to the putter than just a cast ping.

I have read that the Bu copper is actually harder than the steel, that it only sounds soft so people think it is softer. I have a couple old copper Ping putter I like them but I dont hold them up, so no I wouldnt buy one for what they would want to retail them for thats for sure

I started a thread this summer when I took my BeCu Zing 2 out of my in-laws basement and put it back in play. Such an effective shape. Love the sound of a centered strike.

im heaps suspect that they’re actually 100% copper. Ping is very good at staying ambiguous about things and I just can’t see a cnc machine cutting pure copper, it would gum up the tooling in an instant.

to be fair tho pings website only said it’s copper not 100% copper or not a copper alloy and I would bet money it’s a copper alloy

the J and K grinds were limited release and ground by John so I’m surprised they sold them as cheap as 900 lolol

If were talking about Rockwell hardness that’s correct

most low carbon steel are in the low 60’s (1020 is 64 HRB)

C17200 beryllium copper is 82 HRB,

stainless can range from low 90’s HRBfor 303 (specifically made for machining) to 36 HRC for some casting grades like 17-4 which is really damn hard

From a Rockwell hardness perspective low carbon steel is one of the softest material manufacturers use
