15 cap offseason suggestions for improving

Doing pretty good so far. 2 weeks into the handicap season and I dropped a full stroke already. Hitting the ball so much more solid, very few really bad shots like tops or chunks, hacker crap is kind of in the rearview.

Pretty much on the brink so to speak. 2 tough courses, one being a Nicklaus course I played for first time, I broke 90 but could have been so much better. 40 on front on one and 41 on front on the other but still finished 87/88.

For some reason I've had a lot of trouble with bunker shots, although I've had some 9/10 nasty ones lately. Hitting a lot of greenside bunkers early this year.

We had a little 20man tournament yesterday with a stableford system. On 18 I hit a great little pitch shot to like 2.5ft. I don't even know how but I blocked that little downhill putt, then 4 feet by... 3 putt. That putt would have tied me for the top spot. In hindsight it was divine intervention as my friend Wil won. He's been through the damn ringer with his ex-wife last few years and golf is literally all he has to keep him semi sane. He showed up with a new (last years) Stealth driver he just got so glad to see him recoup most of his money for that. He posted a pic of the little trophy on his entry buffet next to a golf scene pic one of his girls had drawn for him and I was like "yup, that's why I missed that one".

Swing is starting to feel pretty good. Hitting my old iron into the net.

I don't mind the long backswing, but you are still starting the downswing with the shoulder rotation. Work on starting the club down with the arms and letting them move through, past your body. You need to get the feeling of the club releasing down near your right foot and then turning through. Right now it is still very OTT and creates as steep angle of attack. Sequence should be lateral shift towards the target, arms release down, then turn through. It might help to work on the 9-3 drill to get the feel of impact and rotation in the third part of the swing.

Thank you. This is ironically exactly what I've working on into the net with the Hanger aid on my old 5iron. I will keep at it daily with the this new info/feel. I'm right on the brink. My team has a huge lead 3 weeks into our league (my partner and I put up 42pts last week) and I've been playing well full swing. Need to start tightening up those few poor holes and dropping some putts. GiR have gone up from 3-4 to 7-8 and reaching a lot of par 5's 500 or less in 2, getting some birdies going.

Employing Jon Sherman training methods. Some foot spray on the driver face. 99mph SS out of the center of the face here. Feels like swinging a 7i in my brain. Very excited to feel like my all my clubs are same swing in general.

I've been striping the driver but as always one thing good, one thing crap, I can't make a putt to save my life but that'll come around.

It ain't the prettiest but I'm keeping it in play 240-270 last few weeks. Loose and no thoughts besides start the mower, cut the grass. Aiming at small targets and letting it rip like Freddy with garden hose arms.

Switched driver setting to nuetral 9.5 from 9.5D previously. 9.5N is what the Callaway fitter set me to in a Paradym and low and behold he was right. Able to hit a very straight ball, little fade and then rip a nice 10-15yard cut when needed. Bounced one almost onto the green from 285 last night with nice high cut over/around a big tree 150 out.

Been able to reach everything 500 or less and go after the short par 4's with some greenside chips and pitches on everything around 300 range.

Edit- I'm still a 15 handicap, entering every score hole by hole. 4-0 in our league team matches. My partners have played great and I'm doing enough to not tank it at least. Had a couple rough ones I pulled together par/bogey and bogey/par for 2 close wins 2 weeks.

Figured I'd update. Been playing pretty good. Mid 80's scores but striking it well enough to clean it up and break 80. I haven't really looked on video but like the tempo at least. I've been hitting it pretty straight other than a pull or push but no super curving shots either direction.

Just a 6iron here
