... I had an economy LL machine that worked good enough for a hobbyist. Very similar to the one Golfworks sells for $799. I was lucky enough to get a used Mitchell Tour LL machine for $599 and have been using it for over 15 years now.

Can I piggy back on mshills and ask what other equipment you have for your builds?

 

I am thinking of doing a little bit in the future with my spouses blessing and when I looked it all up I was struck by the myriad of items available, and having never even thought about it I didn't even know where to start.

Good afternoon, golfers!  I was the first one off this morning at our course and I didn't see another golfer until I reached the 8th hole.  I played the back tees this morning in order to give my long clubs some work.

I have seen so much of the life cycle in the animal kingdom from roadrunners with lizards hanging out f they beaks, to rabbit fur and a plethora of bird bones and feathers. ... I think the basics for a hobbyist is a club ruler, a swing weight scale, a vice and a shaft remover. If you want the whole 9 yards a LL machine too.

Don't even really use the grip install station ever since I started using a lil air compressor.

Along with the items mentioned by @chisag, the most used items in my shop are a chop saw, a belt sander, a ferrule installation tool, and an air compressor with a needle tip attachment for installing and removing grips.

When I went to the Jumbomax grips I could not get them on with air. The next time I put one on I will try one more time, but the inner cylinder on those things is really stiff, so I’m not super optimistic

... Duh. 👍 I forgot about a chop saw as I keep mine on my back porch. With graphite in my irons and wedges I think it is a must for any small shop.

Hahaha I'm a total neat freak thanks to my mom! She's the type that would clean the whole house BEFORE our cleaning lady would come over.

I don't have an at home work bench like the one's a few of you have been posting but I can contribute some machinery stuff.

 

This morning after the rain stopped I was asked to give a few new seasonal employees a tour of the course and the Golf Course Maintenance Dept. 

Here is about 60% of the turf equipment that is housed in three buildings. The sand delivery just came in. At the end of the month they will be verticutting the fairways and all that sand in the two piles will be used for top dressing after the fairways are punched.

 

We have had a good bit of rain recently so the golf course is now turning a fabulous deep green color.

Using air have you ever had a grip slip?  Do you use an extra wrap of tape to make the blown on grip more snug, less likely to move?  Final question, do you ever use a drop or 2 of solvent if twisting?

Nah, really haven't. I just put a single wrap of plain 'ol 3M masking tape on first and yeah, I'll do dip the tip of the grip into a bowl of some solvent to help slide 'em on. Only thing that jug of solvent gets used for anymore! 

 

I do, however, tend towards grips with no alignment stuff so doubt I'd notice unless it was a slip during a swing ... which I haven't noticed since I started using air. I was all about Tour Wraps for a long, long time but switched to GP TV 360s a couple years back and pretty sure it's where I'll stay. I just find it all distracting. Only alignment I really want is the leading edge of the clubface.

I had one of those mom's too aen. 😃 From continuous fussy housekeeping to the importance of ones proper attire for the occasion mom was often over the top. Madelin was OCD for sure . Some say a bit of her ways rubbed off on her eldest child. 😂

She was the best dressed in attendance according to me, but what makes her so extra likeable as a professional golfer I think is when we see that Nelly's true nature is just a golf loving gal with a natural causal attitude like in her interview in the second TikTok.

The great thing about subbing on Friday is that school gets out an hour early!  Today, I am trying to corral 3rd graders and I have a very lively class.

It's quite a bit cooler than average today in the mountains but still it is relatively sunny and pretty outside. Temps are in the middle 60's. 190 golfers will have at it today on the 100 year old D. Ross design.

[Triple Lindy]

Spent yesterday hitting into the net and cooling off in the pool. Picture perfect day in the low 80s, sunny and low humidity. Our youngest son, DIL and granddaughter came over for an early Mother’s Day dinner - fajitas and tres leches cake for dessert. Great day!

... I don't like looking at my swing on video because it just isn't what I see in my head. But my pard took a video of my swing at Verrado last week and I realized how much my physical ailments over the last year had crept into my swing. Just too much body turn back and through with no separation between my hips and shoulders as my body was protecting itself from any torque. That caused me to drop the club too far inside from the top and getting it stuck behind me. Combined with trepidation to move onto my front foot because my torn meniscus in my left knee forced me to hang back and the swing was just sooooo ugly. It is pretty amazing how we can get away with serious flaws, then compensate and play at least some decent golf. 

... So I made the necessary changes since my knee and shoulder are pretty close to normal and it has been a night and day difference in my swing. Hanging back with my short irons was killing my accuracy and distance control. It didn't help my driving either. Having 10-20 foot birdie putts is so much better than constantly having to get up and down. 71 yrs old and still learning. 🤪
