... A TON of movement in that swing and certainly not gonna be very accurate. But it looks like she is just trying to hit it as far as she can and ya need all the body movement you can get. So great long drive swing and she can certainly outdrive me!!!  🤪

... With all the technology out there and so many choices, these 7 words really covers it all. My mantra has always been play the most forgiving clubs you can effectively play. Of Course that means different things to different players but for most if you are trying to decide between two clubs, choose the one that is more forgiving. As much as we like to think about our average best shots, it is our average worst shots that determine our scores. I have days where it seems I can't miss and others where the entire round is a struggle and I want clubs that work equally well on both days. If I could play a full bag of hybrids, I would. But my 4 iron might be my favorite club and my 2 iron off the tee is almost automatic for finding fairways. Living in Phoenix with hard fast fairways certainly factors into my club choices.

... I imagine not too far down the road, I will find I hit a 5 hy better than my 4 iron as well as taking advantage of it's versatility and when that day comes I won't hesitate to make the switch. I like to envision the most difficult shot possible off the tee on a par 3 like a 160 - 200 yd carry over water with steep banks on all sides with a 10 mph right to left wind. If winning or losing depends on this one shot, which club would I have the most confidence in?

On your scenario you gave it will be honestly this for me--- 160 to 170 7 wood. 170 to 185 or so 5 wood. Over 185 to 200 more than likely a high cut driver. The key here is carry.

... Big Stu has played this way his whole life. There is certainly something to hitting golf shots and not making golf swings. Ya try and hit a 15 yd cut and don't quite pull it off and ya realize ya just din't quite pull it off. What you don't do is think about any positions or why you missed it and try to correct on the next swing.

... I was struggling a little this past spring, probably the result of just getting apathetic from playing too much with friends and just not giving every shot it's due and taking them for granted. Taking part in the Cobra challenges: one week woods/hybrids only, next week irons only and next week 4 clubs only. I had to hit so many more golf shots and I rarely had perfect yardages so I had to play more golf shots than normal, focusing on the shot and not my swing. It was a real blessing in disguise.

Yep you nailed it on my game. Stu golf is not pretty. Sometimes under certain situations I will hit like a butt ugly low screamer cut 5 iron. I also bump and run with a 5 iron quite a bit which seems to be a lost art these days even with the senior crowd. The other day one of our new members played in last Thursdays game. I had hit several bump and run 5 irons because frankly the course was wet and I could not get much run out on the drives and could not get to some of the par 4s in regulation. Between the bump and run and the broom stick Ping I had saved like 3 pars. One hole the situation I had to hit the little open faced flop with the 58 which I pulled off. The guy said he did not realize I could pull that off too. I told him my short game had always been my mainstay. I had 2 chip ins for birdies Tuesday. One situation was a wet fairway and I had like 170 left up the hill for the approach. I pulled the 7 wood and hoped I would nut it if not I would be in Position Alpha for the par. Hit it normal about 160 or so. Had a little pitch over the hill 30 yards from the pin. Opened up the PW slightly and hit it short of the pin and it ran in. Our 17th I normally hit the 5 wood for position. Somehow I got jiggy with it and pulled hooked it to the edge of the woods. I had one option a knuckle down turn hook 5 iron. Hit it ok but was short did the bump and run with the same 5 iron for the birdie. Like I told the guys when my short game is on I can be dangerous. I am always thinking how to get it into the hole with as few strokes as possible and do not care how I do it or how ugly it looks

I like the TR Red in my Rogue ST Max, but since I'm not terribly bright, I got a new TR Blue to try.  Very similar to how I like the KBS $ Tapers in my Apex Pro's, but went ahead and bought an Axiom 125X, 105X, and 105S, to satisfy my curiosity.  I really do need to have a garage sale before I move.

Or course not! But I'll never complain about photos of Nelly. 🙂

It's the interesting thing with shaft profiles these days - it's not even really about simple "flex" anymore as we kinda understood it back in the day ... but how it works as a whole. Being the general nerd I am, it's fun to get into the tech specs and try to understand what's going on.

I'd love to work in that biz.

I used to clown on dad all the time back in the day for his "senior" flex shafts in his Yonex driver and 3W - which I actually still have (I think me and Stu have talked about them ADXs at some point)! But knowing what I know now, I totally wonder why he even thought those were right. I'm the same age if not a bit older than he was when we were playing all the time; and he was a damn solid player. I oughta take them over to the range some day and see what happens.

Yall've seen my swing - the biggest thing that's changed since this has been more width and less breakdown of my trail side going back. And obvi used to roll open the face a bit and get a bit stuck.

But the tempo's the same. So the more stable shafts work best for me.

I oughta take them over to the range some day and see what happens.

... Right there with you and shafts have always been a weakness for me. John Oldenburg developed the original NV and I him treated to a round of golf so I got to pick his brain. He would send me every new shaft he developed and some that never made it to retail. You may remember the Prototype and at the time it had the stiffest tip of any shaft. The green NV Xtreme had a titanium weave to reduce torque over the entire length of the shaft. Just took this picture Monday and forgot to include the Kai Li Blue in my Aerojet. I was all in when the Hot Tour set up was going up one flex and installing the Graphite Design YS7 in the 905 bore thru but drilling it out at the hosel and only inserting it 1.5" for some extra kick, and have been fascinated by shafts every since then.

... When I worked with the Callaway Tour rep, I was the last fitting of the day and he kept me for over an hour hitting virtually every shaft he had. I was swimming well and he liked how smooth my swing was and didn't have a ton of experience fitting Ams with under a 100mph swing. It was awesome and hitting some shafts that had too stiff or too soft a tip was really interesting. They didn't all turn out like I would have guessed. But we narrowed it down to the Ventus Red, AD-IZ and Tensei Blue AV.

    • Titleist GT drivers - 2024 the Memorial Tournament
Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
