Indoor Swing Syndrome

So I have almost finished a sim in my garage. We built a room for the simulator and a small gym. The Sim area is 21' L, 11' wide, 12' high. Screen is 11'Wx8something high. I have extra screen above and below the image so we can hit flop shots etc. We are using the Full Swing Kit and E6. Have 10 feet front and back of hitting area. It has been really fun so far. I really enjoy waking up early, getting in a workout and playing 18 holes before I go to work. Just an awesome way to start a day.

The biggest issue is that the 11' wide room feels a little small. E6 will let you offset the image, which we set about 18" right of center and there is plenty of room for any size golfer. I am 6'2" and can make any driver swing I want, but my middle daughter is having a heckuva time hitting indoors. My youngest is the best golfer of the 3 of us, and she basically needed about 4 swings to get used to it. I needed a couple sessions with driver as I prefer hitting cuts and it took me a while to feel comfortable swinging left.

Any tips to help middle daughter? She has a good practice swing and then will step to the ball and just decelerate/not finish her swing. Can basically only hit the ball about 100 yards max with any club. It is clearly in her head.

Did any of you experience this? What did you do?

Is she nervous about breaking something possibly? I'd just let her know it's fine, swing away nothing will happen especially if it doesn't happen to you.

Could also just be a comfort thing I know certain simulators I don't feel comfortable in at all no matter how clear I am.

My friend has a sim in his garage...at 1st I also felt uncomfortable swinging the driver thinking I would hit something.

Now it does not bother me.

IMO....it will take some time for your daughters to adjust.

Have you been happy with Full Swing? Any issues?

Perhaps let her go out there alone with no parental/sibling spectators and swing starting with wedges and progressing to driver. My youngest daughter likes breaking my stuff, so there was no issue.

I have had it since they were available pre-order and so far have had really good luck with it. My first one had a hard time linking to my iphone and they ran some tests and sent me a new one.

Using it with E6 has been great, E6 isn't perfect but it is way more fun than hitting into a net.

Yes, that is what I have told her. She is playing golf at the course every day now so I am hoping that she will feel more in control of the golf ball and use it more.

This happened to me not once but twice. First was when I first set up my sim down our basement and like your space, I have limited width. It bothered the heck out of me and it took me at least 1 month to overcome the fear. It was surely frustrating but there is nothing special that I did. I just tried to hit every day and I started with half swings and slow swings until I get to trust the area and the swing.

On the second time it happened, I recently redid my hitting area and put some foam insulations on the pipes. The bottom pipe I forgot to put my rubber mat to "hide" it. It bothered the hell out of me and I started topping the ball and I can feel my down swing literally stopping for impact like I was bracing for it. It took me three weeks to overcome this. Luckily it was only with the driver when it happened. All my clubs were fine up to my 3 wood.

It is a weird and frustrating feeling. And I have had this set up for 6 years and never thought it would happen to me again.
