I heard on the Women's Irish Open coverage yesterday that Caroline Hedwall has been selected to partner Anna Nordquist in the main, and possibly Linn Grant if the expected Grant/Stark pairing is failing early.

Ok, the Nordquist/Hedwall pairing is positive at 3-2-0 in Solheim record but does include a 7 & 5 loss to Ally Ewing(McDonald)/Angel Yin.

If the commentators 'know' something fair enough, if they're just speculating they are over-blowing it IMO.

What do you think to Grant/Hull in fourballs? Sounds kinda perfect to me... apparently being getting to know each other quite alot too of the course, however they seem polar opposites to me.. 🤔

Hmm, need to think about that a little and I don't have all the knowledge re how the players 'get on'. A Grant/Hull pair may well be a good call, certainly a power pairing.

To me, will depend on overall team pairings - I favour a long hitter paired with a shorter hitter usually and Charley and Linn are similar longer distance off the tee and the typical distance vs accuracy sacrifice.  Gemma #8 and Leona #14 in LPGAT driver accuracy YTD would be a typical short/long pairing with an EKP/Maddie S/Linn/Charley.

Charley and Leona have known each other for 15 years and played on GB&I rep teams in their mid teens, not sure how they get on though. Charley and Georgia are good friends. Leona and Maddie S are friendly, hang out a little socially, I would think they could be a decent pairing, noting Maddie's Solheim record isn't great to date so could use a pairing with an elite matchplayer.

ATM, Charley must be the best driver in women's golf, has increased her accuracy with her usually good distance. Her Solheim record is exceptional (11-5-3) and she has been paired with a bunch of different partners, usually with success. She probably can pair with anyone.

Last thought - I reckon Suzanne knows the Scandi's extra well and will have her pairings worked out. I'm betting Linn and Maja.

I think with Solheim/Ryder/Presidents cups it so easy to be wise after the event!

Yeah I get the whole long with short hitter vibe, but then if that was case Maja and Linn wouldn't be obvious, both pretty aggressive players. Another point is how many times will they all play, I really wouldn't be surprised if certain players on both sides maybe only get 1 game before singles... But then of course you could have some very tired players by Sunday, it's a tough call, and I think both captains will make on the fly calls once in Spain and see how they are all feeling. Can't wait for this actually, need to book the Friday of work! 🤔🤩😎

This article is worth reading:

Straight-Shooting Dottie Pepper Dishes on LPGA Coverage and Solheim Cup Dilemmas

"Thompson wasn’t given one of Stacy Lewis’s captain’s picks—she actually qualified for the team by virtue of that ranking. It’s all part of the world we live in, even when it spins in the wrong direction. “Either you overhaul the system, or the player has to take herself out of it, which I happen to have some experience with,” Pepper says. Indeed, she underwent shoulder surgery in early February 2002, about 7 and a half months before the matches in Minneapolis, and entered just two events that year."

I can't stand Lexi, but at this point I hope she plays well, and has a decent season in 2024.

We don't know if she was really hurt/what limitations it imposed, and if she's starting to get back at it (obviously, the innate talent is there).  If she's burnt out (too many years on tour, too many close calls, etc) and wants better work-life balance, I don't think we can expect much going forward (which is fine, it's her life).

Anyways, we will see...

She has my vote for most disappointing season followed by Yealimi and Pauline RB

Lydia?  Though people don't seem too shocked.

(Not a huge Lexi fan either but at the CPKC she was a crowd favorite, big respect for the generosity with her time and engagement with fans that she showed...same for Nelly).

Lydia is a good choice too altho getting married, you could see it coming (sorta) and she is still top 100 in CME and RR no. 9.

This work-life balance strategy rarely works. I can only think of one player who has succeeded with it - Inbee Park.

You're not the only European here 😉. My prediction for some time has been 16-12 for Europe. Given that some out-of-form Americans have found some form recently, this might be a bit optimistic.

I'll be flying in on Wednesday. Will be my fourth Solheim on site. Can't wait.

Oh wow so jealous your going, hope you have an amazing time!😎 Yeah few people thinking this will be closer nearer we get. I'm going for Europe obviously, still think we have the stronger players where it matters plus home soil...16-12 is good shout imo. 🤔

Lizette Salas making a passive-aggressive post on IG about wanting to go on a Solheim Cup rant but she won’t because…….some things are out of our control.  Lizette, the quality of your play was in your control and you have sucked.  Plus aren’t you dealing with a back injury?

She has no business being on this team.  Which part of her form makes her believe she was unfairly overlooked for a selection?  She is insufferable.  Looks like only Mina liked her post out of all the LPGA players 😂

I'm a fan of Salas (she's a Trojan after all) but I agree, she is barking worse than her bite maybe thinking she deserves the JT treatment, but she does not.  Same goes for Mina too (who is a Dukie, my 2nd fav school) +  who was on the last team, but has done nothing besides finishing runner up to Minjee at the US Open.  Maybe they are throwing shade at Lexi? But she qualified fair and square and Stacy made the right sensible picks we can all agree with , so what's the beef?

Seriously, just say who it was.  Not everyone wants to click on a random link posted in a forum.

I enjoy @MagicClassic407's posts ... but "+1" on avoiding clicking random Links... or opening attachments if not necessary (in this age of potential malware, that even the poster might not be aware was lurking on that Link!)
