Bizarre outfits for sure.  Maybe its some psychological ploy. Or they all in a golf cult.

 

Either way, I like the Euros in session 1.

 

Also, why don't they call these stupid things *alternate shot* and *best ball* like the rest of humanity? I play these formats a time or 2 a year. I still have to google wtf they are. If they want casual fans involved, stop making it a mystery.

They're called Foursomes and Fourball in Australia, NZ and all the other British Commonwealth countries.

 

Maybe the 'alternate shot' and 'best ball' is a US thing? Can't deny though that is easier to understand, particularly for anyone that doesn't play competitive/club golf.

Indeed.  They're called that here too,  formally, but match play is much less common so many can't decipher it.  And foursomes is so unhelpful of a name..

Not the most helpful memory trick I admit but I've been keeping it straight by thinking of it as FourSomes and FourBall and instead of trying to assign meaning to these baffling names, focusing on the "S" and "B", since "Alternate Shot" also features an "S" (and...."Best Ball" has two B's).

I remember it as in Foursomes sometimes your partner’s tee shot will screw you over.

and suddenly the edit cuts mid-sentence "we're very lucky to be (?)..." to the dancer/performance (without finishing the sentence!)

You've got the Olympics and the International Crown for global inclusion.

 

The Solheim works great as it is right now, fantastic atmosphere and history, it doesn't need change imo.

Didn’t realize until this week there will be another Solheim Cup next year in Virginia.  Within driving distance so looking forward to attending in person.

 

Lexi starting off red hot…don’t think many folks saw that coming.  Europeans rather shaky out of the gate. Stark and Grant in huge hole down 3 after 3.

 

Long way to go, but Americans may actually take the morning session.

@JungleJimbo - first hole Stark/Grant got a bad break with their lie on the drivable par 4 and missed a 5 foot par putt.  Second hole par 5 Khang stuffed their approach shot to 3 feet.  Third hole Stark/Grant couldn’t get up and down on the par 3.  Lexi hit one pretty tight there.  Megan and Lexi are both contributing so far, they look loose and relaxed playing some nice golf.

Pettersen is a strong personality, Lewis is more structured and contained. That worked with Catriona Matthew.

This is absolutely horrendous from Europe so far.  The slowest of slow starts, loads of holes lost to pars, constantly taking drops out of bushes and missing putts for halves.  I'd take a 3-1 loss this morning and reset for the fourballs - anything more would be a huge bonus.
