This is how I feel about players getting multi year exemptions into events, and official tour wins and CME points for team events.

Who do you pair Lexi with? She seems to be way in the outside of the current team (and the whole tour for that matter). She was an LPGA golden girl for a long time but the only other tour player I know of her hanging out with was Jaye MG. Does she even want to be a part of the locker room?

Current form she plays better ball and singles only.  She would be a nightmare partner in alternate shot(foursomes).

 

Worst part, imo, is she does not even seem to want to play golf right now.  She proclaimed this year is a “me time” break.  Which is fine until it affects the US team instead of just dismal individual performance.

Lexi's awesome stats for this year:

 

20 rounds of golf, 15 of them over par, and +19 in those rounds she completed.  Not counting the terrible play she had at the International Crown.  I genuinely wonder if her strategy was to play as little as possible, so she didn't hurt her chances of making the Solheim Cup.  Not exactly sure how the points work, but I wonder if not even showing up is better than missing a cut in terms of points.

Cup points arent divided by events played unlike world ranking points.

Not playing doesnt help or hurt you unless others are accumulating points to pass you. in lexi's case she earned alot of points last year,  and not enough of the other players have accumulated enough points this year to push her out.

 

tldr if she is playing less to protect something it would be that world ranking.

Bottom line is she sucks right now so she should not be on the team, and that is up to the captain, she doesn't "have" to be on the team.  Can't wait to see what actually happens if she does play on the team, might go down as one of the worst team decisions ever, or it may go the other way, but I doubt it.

she does have to be on the team unless she herself says no mass thats why the points system exists. now the captain can choose how much she plays.

we've seen plenty of athletes claim mental health as valid reason to step away for a time. fingers crossed lexi takes the break she needs sooner rather than later.

I like those 2 picks, I'd pick Jodi ES since she won an event last season.

lexi is undoubtedly trying her best. At the Chevron, I saw her spending a bunch of time on the practice putting green
