Why do I hit my hybrid just as straight as my driver yet the hybrid goes farther?

I have a three Callaway Maverick hybrid. I hit it just as far and straight  as my Taylormade Stealth driver which I hit perfectly straight. Why is this happening? Should I switch to a Callaway driver?  Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you have the wrong driver spec. Is the shaft too stiff, or does it have too little loft? You may be getting a better launch, and more solid contact, with a shorter shaft and more loft.

Are you trying to make different swings, maybe hitting up on the driver but down on the hybrid? What do the ball flights look like, the driver could be going lower, so though lower loft its not flying as far as the hybrid, hence they go the same distance.

Could be compressing your hybrid while adding loft to your driver. Making a 19 degree 3 hybrid 14-15 degrees. Could also be a shaft issue on driver.

Thanks for the advice. I’m 6 feet and play stiff shafts. I’m have another r flex driver and will give that one a go next round.

Get on a laucnh monitor. This should be impossible unless you are hitting the driver with the headcover still on.

Usually when I tell my mates that they hit hybrid as straight as driver, its not a compliment.

Been there OP.  At one point o could probably carry a driving iron off a tee , or a 3 wood for sure 20 or more past my driver.  Driver was a weak Wipey fade in my worst condition.     You have to get a few things into the known world.  Which means getting on a monitor and seeing path , strike  location and face angle in relation to path.     All the fitting in the world won’t fix a open face at impact.  
 

 

you say you hit both straight.  But quantify that.  Straight as in no curve. Or straight as in the ball stays in the fairway?

I’m having the same issue at the moment.  I typically hit my shots high and I believe it’s a swing path issue.  I look at my driver and I’m not getting it on the sweet spot.  I have a tournament this weekend.  I may hit my 4w instead of my driver.

It's weird I can hammer my driver 280+ but my 3 hybrid is old reliable and I can hit that thing around 260 total(150mph ball speed). I can go neck and neck with some of the shorter hitters I know. Makes zero sense how I hit it. Meanwhile my 4 iron is only 205/210 with roll. I'm honestly considering buying a 4 hybrid to replace my 4 iron. 

 

I'm guessing you don't launch your driver correctly and either hit it too low or it's too spinny and you don't get much carry. Either way you are hitting your hybrid compressed and that's why you are hitting it so well.
