Where does Scotty Cameron go with his design from here - I have an idea

Just picked up a Super Select Newport+ and haver several Scotty's - have always been a fan.  However, in the quest to get the putter to sit more square at address, especially with the Newport and Newport 2, the heads have taken on a "chunkiness" that I think can be softened.  

 

So that's where I think Scotty goes next - maintaining the squareness that the chunkiness has provided, but being a bit more elegant on the back end.  It's one of the reasons that I prefer the softer look of the bumpers on the Newport versus the more angled Newport 2, but I think there is room to do something else.

He needs to shorten the plumbers neck hosel “L” length. Not the length of the plumbers neck itself, but the portion of the hosel that connects the neck to the shaft. It’s so long and just looks ridiculous.

Where does he go from here?  I expect even bigger cavity holes at 1.68 inches each so it matches the ball.  Putters will be huge but the branding, oh the branding

I have to admit, that I really like the Newport+ model he just released. I have played a Newport-style putter for well 30 years (Ping Anser, Taylormade Rossa, SC Newport, Tour Rat, 009M). I would have NEVER thought I would go to something “large”. However, this Newport+ sits so freaking square at address and then flows like a blade but has stability of a mallet.

 

I can only see where he would release one without the deeper grooves for a firmer feel, maybe redistribute some weight to the outside to increase MOI without sacrificing feel?

Everyone is going to say he needs less of this and that, bring back x,y and z. In reality his putters are going to have more branding than a Nascar vehicle and people will buy them still.

Magnetic head covers for one. Bring the Titleist script back either in the cavity or replace the Scotty Cameron on the face. I don't know how it would effect performance, but I'd also like to see the topline of the Newport just a tad slimmer. Other than that, I really like this release. The feel is absolutely fantastic.

SC is the same thing, over and over.

 

Why does it cost me an arm and a leg to get a teryllium putter?  I understand the marking and scarcity aspect, but IMO its stupid... that stuff and all the fanboi-ism pushes me away from the brand.  And I've gamed a limited edition SC since 1998 as a junior golfer, and owned numerous other SC's since then... that's pretty old-school, all things considered.

It's because he can. People were saying the next stock line would be black finish. But scotty looks to be doing only black for LE putters cause he can charge more and people will buy them no questions asked.

Yeah it’s the unfortunate genius of it all. Been gaming a newport classic for the longest time (oldest club in my bag by far) and all I look for are older Cameron’s. It’s all newer junk IMO. I know this is an extremely blunt and short sided view, but I got to play with an LPGA pro (top 50 in the world) who had a masterful button back and as nice as it was, it’s not different.. lol… and definitely not 10-20K different.
 

Wish there was a way for gamers to buy things like the T22 or other models without paying the fan boy profit margins for the closet hoarders..
