OG Sim vs. Stealth +

I currently play an OG Sim 9.0 driver in the neutral position with a DI6 stiff shaft at 45".  I like it for the most part, it has good distance but forgiveness and dispersion could be a bit better on the days I'm not hitting the center of the club face.  I have a Stealth + (old version not 2.0) coming in 9 degrees.  Hoping for a bit more stability and lower dispersion.  Any distance gains would be a plus.  I plan to play the same shaft in it.

It seems like there was not a big jump from Sim 2 to Stealth + but wondering if I'll see a noticeable improvement going from OG Sim to Stealth +.

Coming from the OG Sim, I find Stealth+ a lot more forgiving- ballspeed retention across the face is really good. That is really the separating factor between the two in my opinion. Distance on center strikes is similar. Stealth+ also has a hot spot that gives you a ridiculous boost in distance if you hit it just right.

Feel wise, stealth+ is much softer off the face in my opinion. I also much prefer the sound on Stealth+ - muted thwack is how I'd describe it.

Lastly I much prefer the deeper face of the Stealth+. For some reason I really struggled with the shallowness of the SIM and would end up teeing it fairly low to get any consistency out is it and to be able to swing freely without fear of skying it

Been thinking about making he switch myself. I’ve had the Sim Max in the bag for a few years, and it’s really been good. Definitely the least left biased of any driver I’ve played.

If you are talking the OG Stealth + I would say the SIM & especially the SIM2 are more forgiving.

If you are talking about the Stealth 2 Plus in my case well it is the absolute total package.  A bomber that you can miss center face & not pay for it in TM norms.

I will say I've noticed most folks that really like the Stealth+ have some speed.  Like 110+ or more.  It seems to come alive at higher speeds.  Perhaps something w/ the Carbon Face tech, but have noticed slower swingers really struggle with it.

Correct, they corrected that this year though.

I cracked my OG sim and got a stealth + as a replacement. I think toe strikes are a little more forgiving but dang that OG Sim was a BOMBER. I kinda miss it.

I also have noticed high ball speed guys have more success with the stealth + and don’t know anyone swinging below 100 with it.

I like both of them and personally like the low spin bomber releases (sim and stealth) over the more forgiving releases (sim2 and stealth2). I think they allow me a little more flexible/spinny shaft and I like that extra kick

I have both and if you swing over 95 mph you will notice a jump on ball speed with the Stealth Plus.  Forgiveness… meh… don’t see much of a difference.

The Stealth Plus 2 though is a shocker on how good the forgiveness is.  I’ve hit some off the toe that I thought would be 20 yards shorter than they ended up.  Ended up close in distance to a center strike.

IIRC the MGS reviews had a different perspective on that with mid swing speeds getting the most benefit moving to carbon.

Could also just be some extra forgiveness on off-center hits, though I found the Stealth+ not to do great with off-center strikes.

MGS reviews also classify this year's TSR2 as a very average performer.  If you frequent this board, you'll see that that might just be this year's #1 driver for all around performance.  I take their reviews / analysis with a bit of a grain of salt.

TM fixed it with the Stealth 2 +.  Way more forgiving than the OG but ball speeds weren't as high.

The 8 degree OG Sim set to lowest sat a lot more open for me than when I tried my buddy's Stealth Plus 8 degree set to the same setting.

I thought the bigger Stealth face might help since I tend to miss high on the driver face.  But, with the Stealth sitting closed in comparsion, it brought a two-way miss whereas with the OG Sim, hooks basically never happen.  The worst with the OG Sim was a straight pull so I've stuck with it.

I've heard Stealth 2+ sits more open again, but I haven't tried one.

Test the S2+.  I wouldn't say it sits more open in standard setting, but I found it more forgiving and the two way miss was way less prevalent for me compared to the OG Stealth.
