Baltimore/DC Tight Sunday Fit Recommendations

It's been years since I've been out to the Baltimore area and I never played golf out there.  I'm flying in next Sunday, landing around 10:30a and I have to be in the Meriweather Post area by 5pm.

Looking to potentially fit a round of golf in there if I can.  I've looked a couple places but don't really know what's solid and what would work timing-wise.  Any advice or recommendations?

Will be playing Waverly Woods on Monday so probably want to skip that for Sunday.

Weekend tee sheets are usually full in that time frame.

In that area, the options are:

• Waverly Woods
• Hobbits Glen
• Fairway Hills
• Timbers at Troy
• Compass Pointe (east of BWI)

Of those, Timbers at Troy would prob be your best option (besides Waverly) bc HG and FH are semi-private with limited space for non-member play. Compass Pointe would be an option but it will add time to get to Meriweather. Turf Valley could be an option, but I believe you have to stay onsite to play it.

Compass Pointe often needs more maintenance.  Timbers has many forced carries if that appeals to you.

It's a bit further east, but "The Woodlands" is a very fun "higher-end" muni. Part of the Baltimore County courses.

 

Like others have said, tee sheets can be pretty full, but I generally have good luck as a walk-on single.

 

Given your itinerary, walking on may not be an option.

Thanks everyone.  I couldn't get a tee time at Timbers so I just went ahead and booked at Waverly Woods.  I guess I'll be a little more knowledgable come Monday's round.

It’s Bermuda grass in April.  Just. Dormant. Far better condition than Timbers overall IMO
