For what it is worth, the Maltby Playability factor rates the Ping as Game Improvement, while rating the Mizuno and Cobra as Super Game Improvement.  The rating goes Mizuno, Cobra and Ping in that order as most to least.

 

I have a Ping G425 7-iron (rated even less playable than the G430) and a Mizuno HM on order.  When the Mizuno comes, I will report back.

I’ve played the 923 HMP and G425. I prefer the feel of the HMP (it’s a great club) but the G425 was easier to hit (to me at least).

What shafts did you have in each?

 

The HMP has a higher Maltby Playability Factor, but also less offset.  Interesting.

DG 105 in the HMP and AWT 2.0 in the G425.

I think HMP is hot metal pro... I was seeing the HM are more forgiving per chart

PIng G425 does not have a very high Maltby Playability Ranking - 605.  Hot Metal Pro - 696 (Hot Metal 805).

I've tried the 923 Hot Metals, HM Pros, HM HL, and Ping G430 irons. Not extensively but just in a hitting bay at PGATSS. The Hot Metals, all 3 versions, felt and sounded pretty good. Definitely better than the G430's. The Pings were very hard feeling and loud. I didn't care for that aspect of them at all and I'm not very picky about those things. The Hot Metals seemed a little more forgiving than the HM Pros and the HM HL's were a little more forgiving than the Hot Metals. The HM HL's also were about 5-10 yrds shorter but had more height and spin than the Hot Metals(mostly due to the loft difference). The Pings were similar distance to the Hot Metals but spin was less. I'm around a 20 HDCP so I tested the entire face 😁.

I have played/owned Hot Metal 2023 with KBS Max and currently own and play the G430 with Alta CB

 

i have not hit the Aerojet but have hit the Wilson DynaPower extensively.   
 

in my mind.  If I’m buying I would

To judge forgiveness using Maltby's data, look at MOI.  Also check CG height, which can affect launch, but Ping G series irons are famous for hitting the ball high, despite having a high CG.

The AeroJet will looks like a GI/SGI iron. The amount of offset and thickness of topline is just odd looking so for me they've never been considered. Of the 430/923 The 923 is a cleaner, less offset, thinner topline than 430. The sound/feel of 923 is also better than 430. 923 has a solid iron sound and you can still hear the higher pitched thwack of CorEye tech.
