Putting Stroke

So I am in the market for a new putter.....just trying to figure out or get some help as to what hosel would best fit my stroke.......This is a clip from a six footer on my home mat....Just trying to see if i would be considered straight back through, arc or strong arc, and what hosel type i should start my hunt with.......thanks in advance for any advice or help

Find a putter you can aim, with a weight that fits your feel for distance control. Whatever that is, do that first. Then work on your stroke if you need to beyond that.

That looks straight back and through.  They say that mallet style putters work best for that.

You are out to in. High moi mallet would be good. 

 

Slant hosel if your miss is usually left. Double bend or plumbers neck if your miss is usually right.

Bit of a nerd on putting and putters. Stroke looks pretty low-arc. Can you post a video of you putting but with the ball aim-line lined up with a mat line?

Exactly right.

 

There's no formula for it, although on average there's some correlation between putter designs and stroke "types". But whatever gets it on line and lets you have some touch for distance is what you need.

I learned this lesson the hard way 20 years ago by measuring my stroke, researching a bunch of theories, buying a putter that supposedly was optimum and then trying my level best to groove the "optimum" stroke path to match that "optimum" putter. I even had a little gadget that let me measure my degrees of rotation during the stroke when practicing on a mat at home. Couldn't putt a lick for six months after that.

I'd also probably say mallet based on that video. Also, don't be afraid to pick a putter that you like, I find that over the years getting a new putter really sparks the motivation for some to practice a lot with their new toy. The motivation to practice plus a better fit putter can generally turn into quite an improvement. However, I say that as someone who has only ever had 2 putters, so I may just be talking out my bum.

Look to aim to the right according to the flange line , and then cut across it.  As said. Find one you can aim  on that line. Then learn how to stroke it.   I’d try one with no line.

People generally have the same stroke, regardless of the putter in their hands. Putter doesn’t change your stroke.

 

It matters less where you’re aimed at address than where you’re aimed during the strike. Many great putters are not aimed on line at address, but they figured out that if it looked that way, but was online at the strike, that is simply how they’ll aim.

 

That will be aimed correctly for them.

 

I know it’s wasted effort to say that, but what the heck.
