Wanting Feedback - Bettinardi Face Types 🧙‍♂️

Calling on my fellow betti brethren to break down their experiences with the different face types:

 

Honeycomb

Micro-Honeycomb

FlyMill

FIT 

Roll Control
 

I’ve been comfortably dedicated to the micro-honeycomb face with several queen b #10’s but wouldn’t mind trying something new. 
 

Just snagged an Inovai 8.0 off here for a good price. Interested to see how Roll Control face performs.

I have had Bettinardis with all these face types.

 

Here's my breakdown of feel, from firmest to softest:

 

Micro-honeycomb, Fly Mill, Honeycomb, Roll Control, FIT

 

Currently, I'm playing the Inovai 6.0 with the Roll Control. I like the RC face. Provides a soft feel, but with enough feedback. For me, the FIT face was just too soft.

I've only played the Roll Control face, but I really, really like it.

 

Great feel, soft and slightly springy with feedback - plus, the milling does help to impart an amazing end-over-end roll on the ball.

 

I'm a pretty big fan.

I agree with your assessment of the Roll Control Face. I had the SS35 and liked it, but I prefer a firmer feel. Just got my Studio B Reserve QB14 smooth face yesterday. Hoping to put in play Saturday morning.

 

Edit: I've also had a few QB6s with the micro-honeycomb face and really liked the feel. I would say they will feel much different than the Roll Control Face.

Honeycomb - Firm and hot face, enjoyable for me.

Micro-Honeycomb - Haven't tried would probably be my favorite. 

FlyMill - Depends on model, had it on a BB0 and probably similar to the Honeycomb for me.

FIT - Feels like a toasted marshmallow 

Roll Control - Feels like a regular marshmallow but rolls better.

I have an old studio stock 5 with FIT and I love it. Definitely soft and rolls the ball well. The ball I play is a touch firmer feel so it neutralizes it. 
 

Have also played fly mill and the larger honeycomb as well. 
 

fly mill was a medium level of soft depending on ball and the larger honeycomb was more clicky and firm. I have never hit a bettinardi that felt bad though, just depends on your level of “soft.”

My favorite is the Mini Honeycomb that debuted in the 2023 Queen Bee lineup. They used a milling tool one-eighth smaller than the Micro Honeycomb. The new version softens up the honeycomb just a bit. Very nice.

Honeycomb was a bit firm for my preferences, flymill was a step in the right direction, but I went with the roll control in a studio stock 35 as I tend to like a relatively softer feel. Regardless of whether you will enjoy the soft feel of the roll control or not, it puts a fantastic roll on the ball. 

 

Just a heads up though (you might already be aware) that the Inovai come stock with 2* loft as opposed to the stock QB and SS series' loft of 3*. Not sure how much of a difference this will make for you but just wanted to point that out. Hope you enjoy your new mallet and the roll control face!

Played QB6 for a few years and just received an Inovai 6 spud neck.

 

My thoughts are...

- Micro honey comb is firm face but on a soft carbon steel head. When hit on the sweet spot feels soft(ish).

At times on short putts it can jump off the face. That might be more me than the putter but it is an issue.

 

- RC- Must add its more than just about a soft feel. Went to the RC face as I need a better end over end roll and so far I believe its delivering

that (mainly based on visually seeing an earlier roll). As to "feel", it is slightly softer and as such believe I must hit it just a tad harder to get to the hole. 

But so far I'd say the face is giving me better control and roll. Still adjusting to speed off the face.
