Departure from Pac 12

Does anyone know if the departure of schools from Pac 12 will affect College golf?  Is there any impact at all?

My understanding is that they aren't just football moves. So all sports would be in the new conferences.

Probably too early to say that.  The PAC12 teams without a new home aren't going to be getting the tens of millions in TV money they are used to.   That's going to lead to cuts in funding of non-revenue sports.

I've read that the travel cost for west coast athletic programs will increase by $10M.  Oregon and Washington will not receive full shares of revenue until 2030.  No telling how that will affect non-revenue producing sports.  UW's athletic programs  reportedly lost $4.2M in 2022 - 2023 while Oregon made $12.9M.

They're getting an increase of $30M in revenue share, which is still not a full share, until 2030 ... I think the Ducks and Huskies will be OK.

Just getting caught up on all the churn myself but mostly looking at it through football knot hole.  Wow, the as it stands now PAC 4 just took a shellacking.  I can't see the likes of Stanford or Cal cutting their golf programs... but then I wouldn't have guessed what just happened.  I read and ESPN article on all this realignment that interest in west coast sports has been waning in recent years.  That caught be by surprise too.

Other than a conference tournament location/make up not being the same (probably some sort of a merger with the WAC coming), golf and Track/XC are the ones that will actually have limited change.  Stanford never travels to Seattle to play UW in a match.   Stanford may happen to be in the same tournament in San Diego or wherever the 10-15 tournament is hosted.  The overall finish determines the "record".  For example:  If Stanford wins a tournament with 12 teams (including them), their record for the week is 11-0.  If Washington finished 8th, their record would be 4-7 (assuming no ties at 8th).  There is no real need for conference seeding as the match play seeding is based on the stroke play portion of the conference tournament.
