TMAG Stealth 2 + vs Ping 430 LST - 9*

drbonesvt

Recommended Posts

Only started down this road testing

Gamer , Stealth 2 plus 9* set to 1.5* low , Accra TZ6 ST M5 tipped 1’ or a Ventus Blue TR 7tx

Trackman

CHS - 116 cold , 122 driving range warm

BS - 175 to 182

LA 10-13 *

Sping 1900-2200

Carry 290 - 316

When I’m On im on with the Stealth - Trackman can get a 306 to 315 carry , maybe outlier bomb 320 , on course performance isn’t as driving range  // trackman hero ish harder to track without GPS , but still very stout performance.

Tested 430 LST with the ZF 60 TX , (O) setting , standard club , 9*

Trackman

CHS 116-118 (all fairness to the ping , warm up limited , hit with boat shoes on in slacks at lunch )

BS 172-177 or close

LA 9-11

Spin 1800 to 2200 ( some 1600 in there )

carry 288 - 306

Comparison , initial

ZF 60 TX is a nice shaft , but I do not particularly get along with it, could have walked out with that set up and been happy but for that kind of money I want to love the set up.

**Note** Ping tested with a 60g shaft , not the best fit for me

TMAG Stealth2 + vs Ping 430 LST

feel - Winner stealth

Launch - higher was the stealth by a degree or two , this caught me by surprise

spin - I was shocked here , LST is a low spin SOB , at times too low

BS - Stealth for now most I’ve see is 182 BS , again in fairness to the ping 177, not a lot of warm up, shaft profile that might not have matched my delivery / swing perfectly , and I wasn’t swinging the ping as fast as the stealth , not a club issue but the this guys

Dispersion - Ping is straight of straight

Mishits - Ping def is helping the golfer more than the stealth

So I bought a Ping LST 430 , haven’t owned a ping since the 400 LST days , so let the games begin

Shafting up with Ventus TR 7tx with a ping tip, give it more a chance to give more of a tete’ au tete’ comparison to the TMAG Stealth2+

Right now I’d say the ping is 10 yds behind the stealth but not a complete picture yet, Ping does win on dispersion ; ping in the lead bc Ill take dispersion over 10 yds to be quite honest ; I know loss of WRX card, do not pass go , do not collect 200 , jail , etc etc etc.

I was testing the Ping 430 LST 9 degree this weekend against the Paradym DDD 9 degree, different shaft but my first thought is this is as low spin as Paradym with the heavy weight at back and it is slightly straighter also.

I have Autoflex 505 45.5" with the Paradym and Kali Blue 60S 45" with the Ping, ball speed wise Ping is 2-3 mph slower which is quite impressive.   I wish I have time and money to try the Ping with Autoflex.

Stealth 2 plus Ventus blue TR , best hit after warm up

ping was no dud , 177 with the ZF 60 TX shaft , should be getting the Ventus TR blue back today with a ping tip

Interesting how it changes from person to person!

I tested on course with Pro-V's and my BLP, and every time the Stealth 2+ was a bit lower spin than the 430 LST. The Paradym 3D, for me, is higher launch AND lower spin than both of them though...

They (430 lst and TMAGS2) where close , on the initial test , I think if tested with the same shaft back to back , for me they would be closer

I’d say right now I’m giving up 5-10 yds  on the ping out of the box  , see if a similar S2 + set up gets it closer .

will admit I’m looking for something that is better for play for me vs trackman all star , so a Launch monitor component and then on course testing

G430 LST was also on the lower end of average ball speed as well for me.  Like you, I found both G430 and LST to be very accurate to make up for lack of ball speed.  Playing the Paradym TD with Ventus TR Black atm, and it's giving me blistering ball speeds with acceptable dispersion.  My ss and ball speed are on par with yours.

Ping shafted up with ventus TR blue 7tx

first off the ping head is heavy which for me personally I like, finished build weight is 336g at roughly 44.75” , I could see some struggle with a head that heavy esp if a build is 45 or longer ( for note my stealth s2 + is 204 head weight )

dispersion pretty good as expected, I was pushing it a little right but dead straight ( more testing needed ) leaving the face open a bit , and not quite / or feeling like I wasn’t turning the club over completely )

this round I wanted to see , LA , CHS , BS ….speed test of sorts

prov1’s

I was able get CH to 120 mph with the LST

BS , smash of 1.49 , 1.48 , 1.49 , BS topped out at 178 , close but not quite at the TMAG S2 + 180 mph , and noticeable drop BS drop on off center strikes where stealth 2 held BS

launch was lower along with spin , the launch has me a bit perplexed

more to come , outdoor and course is the true trial bc trackman is the lab 🥼

Got a round with the g430 lst , still not set on settings , initial on course impressions

About the same as TMAG s2+ performance on course meaning I hit similar distances with the 430 , sans the big TMAG bomb I would get with the S2+ occasionally

A couple of drives ,  where I thought where absolute crap , turned out ok

g430 in the small plus setting tested on trackman and on course is surprisingly good , this isn’t my normal playing position or look I like to see,  but the ping is really good in this setting. (Could be this head is very open etc ) even in plus setting spin is low

While I still feel the more traditional head shape is more appealing the ping does promote a ton of confidence

Have you tried small + setting? I adjusted my buddies who was having the same slight right issue. The LST head comes std about 2* open. (That’s why many launch it lower) His result surprised him, but not me. He actually gained ball speed since his strike was with a more square face. His launch came up about 1/2 to 3/4*, and his spin actually decreased due to the face being more square at impact. The other bonus was his start line adjusted slightly left (rh player) and just stayed straight instead of flaring right. I’ve played with him for quite a while, and after this adjustment he’s driving it the best I’ve ever seen him.

I looked at plethora of heads at the store they looked open as a whole

thanks for the 411 , o or (small +) I’ll prob land on , the small - is good as well , like TMAG S2+ but a hairless consistent for my delivery

I am high speed and high spin and miss right.  The Ping LST in small + with the weight in draw position allows me to view a more closed face at address which gives me confidence.  Also allows me to play a low spin head which I need.  The LST is forgiving all across the face and keeps spin down on bad strikes.  Has made driving the ball so much fun.
