Anyone receive their Max CB and have initial thoughts? Looking at ordering one and just not sure if the CB is really providing me anything or not.

I have the Mezz Max CB. It is now in the bag putting the DF 2.1, Link, Mezz Max Broom, and Link on the bench.

Out of all those putters, the Mezz Max CB is the easiest for me to lineup and hit the ball on my intended target line. Distance control is usually pretty good too.

It took awhile for me to find the ideal setup and grip though.

I have three rounds with mine, and I am switching directly from a Jailbird WH.  Lab def go the counterbalance principles correct. I have mine with the Accra shaft which it a shaft that I prefer because of the soft feel and feedback.  The roll is better than the JB, one drawback of the JB in my opinion was that I wasn't making those inside 6 footers as much as I felt I should. I feel the Mezz has been much better in that department for me. Distance control and feedback has been great. The only drawback is that it takes some time to get used to how the shaft enters the clubhead and sets up. If your a center shafted putter it will be an easy transition.  The Mezz C/B is just way more stable than the JB.

So ive been using either a DF 2.1 or Mezz Max for the last few years but in a standard config. My one concern is with the Super Stroke grip not having the built in press, what effect that will have.

To me it set up better than using the the press grip that comes with standard size putters. I feel that the press grips just add another element of alignment to get used to.

my standard putters have lie angles of 69 but went with 71 with CB because I slightly changed my setup (closer to the ball a tad) since I purchased the 69s.

Ok but that was a change in set up, not directly related to going CB vs standard?

Anyone who has one of these counterbalanced ones…does it still have the forward shaft lean built in or is it more traditional?

I can confirm this as well. Doesn’t feel like it’s even close to the shaft lean that’s in the standard length DF or Mezz (I’ve had both).

I agree.  Having the grip in line with the shaft feels more natural.

but I never understood the press grip to begin with.  I always thought a forward press was to get your hands in front of the ball and to help level out your shoulders.  The press grip doesn’t provide those benefits.

Yes I always thought the same thing about the press grip, defeats the purpose. I didn't get along well with Labs standard size putters, but the CB and Broom I putt real well with the shaft lean.

What SuperStroke came on yours? I thought it was going to just be the 17” but I got the 3.0XL 17” which so far I’m not a fan of at all. When I ordered it it didn’t say anything about being the 3.0XL version and I’ve always hated the thicker grips on putters.

This is the grip it came with. Tour 3.0 17” doesn’t say anything about XL.

I have continued to have a ton of success with the C/B. I have always putted with the claw, both with standard and my brooms. This set up with the grip and extra length feels very good and for me really gets the ball online. Also have had an improvement in lag putting (and it wasn’t too bad before).

Ok that looks the same as mine. It guess it’s 17 and not XL. Either way not a huge fan.

I have used the Oddysey Jailbird c/b and it also has the same grip. I get along well with it. Just need to be mindful of weight or if there is a weight in the end if you regrip it.
