Can anyone compare a startard mezz os mezz max with a couterbalanced? how does it feel? Is it different to align it with less forward shaft angle? etc

So funny thing is I was worried about the no forward press built it but it seems however they do it there still seems to be some forward press. No issues with alignment. It was a natural transition.

what about feel? felels like you are “swinging the grip”? what about touch? Noise, etc?

Honestly there’s no difference in feel, sound, touch etc. I think maybe you can feel the grip and weight a bit above your hands but to me it’s not super noticeable. If anything I feel like maybe the it’s a bit hotter off the face but I’m coming from a DF and I always thought the Mezz was hotter than the DF.  I feel like maybe with the CB the head just swings a bit easier if that makes sense.

I had a standard length Mezz and bought a CB Mezz Max. I pushed a lot of putts with the Mezz (particularly shorter ones) but feel like the CB is a little more point and shoot for me. I do really struggle with distance control with the CB compared to the standard. I went back to my spider from both of them now. I’m just as good on the short ones with it and have great distance control. I would like to try the CB Mezz with a smaller grip. I hate the 3.0-17” that comes with it.  I don’t know if putting on a Winn CB grip (I had played this prior on a CB TM I used to play) or the 1.0-17” SuperStroke would ruin the weighting of the CB Mezz but I’d like to try it.

Does anyone have a counterbalanced LAB putter with an Accra shaft? If so, how do you find the shaft? I know on broomsticks people say they can get a little whippy and the TPT is worth the upgrade. I did the remote fitting for a traditional putter and was told 39" - problem being their standard putters cap out at 38" - so I think im going with a 40" counterbalanced build. So at that length its getting close to broomstick, but not quite there.

Really just hoping someone will say they have a long counterbalanced build with an Accra shaft and its not whippy at all so I can keep this build at a semi-reasonable cost 😅

I've had a DF2.1 Broomstick at 46.5" with the Accra shaft and did not find it particularly wobbly to be honest. However, I've got a Mezz Max CB coming at 37.5" with the Accra shaft that should be here Monday. I will let you know how it feels.

If you are fitted for a 39” standard, go 42” CB.

If you are going with that much length, get the TPT and don't look back.

Love the blue head with the white shaft. Demo’d that setup in regular length yesterday at PGA SS. Just feels so soft off the face. Wish they would have some counterbalance to try.

How would you compare the CB Mezz to the Link? Better MOI I’m sure but really trying to weigh out pros and cons as I’m trying to decide between both. Thanks!

Man it's tough. I will be completely honest, I putt pretty well generally and I am not real sure what the CB does for me. I love the Link and it looks and feels but honestly what i missed the most, and its the same with the CB, is the Press grip.

Try to hold the putter super loose (thumbs off or hovering above the grip) and move your hands closer to the top of the grip. You should feel the putter head get noticeably heavier.

Right but isn’t the whole point of counterbalancing not to make the head feel heavy, so you have basically a bunch of weight on the other end that swings the putter head more easily?

Interesting. I think it was mentioned before but it’s hard for me to understand the benefit of a press grip. I do slightly forward press before every putt, but for me serves as a trigger move and position I like to get my hands and shoulder in. Wondering what benefit would be if that stayed in the same spot with an already built in shaft lean. I suppose I have to try it in person.

So for me when i forward press with a "conventional" grip i have a tendency to open the face. With the Press grip the press is built in so i don't have have to worry about adjusting my alignment, the forward press is built in to it. I also don't really use a trigger.

How are counterbalancers feeling re distance control? Is the conventional wisdom that CB makes shorties easier but distance control harder?

For me both my short puts and my distance control got better with a counter balanced putter.

With both armlock and broomstick my short puts were great but my distance control really suffered.

I have a question that seems like you fine folks may be able to answer. I was fitted for a Mezz Max 37" 69 or 70* with Press 1.5 grip. On Lab Outlet they have a 37 69 counterbalance with the long Superstroke grip. Is that putter built with a different shaft angle since it doesn't incorporate a Press Grip? I guess what I'm wondering is can I swap out the grips or would that mess everything else up? Also, if it's just a matter of grip weight, could I simply put a Tour Lock plug or something similar into the top of the Press grip to get it to weigh the same as the Superstroke? May seem like a convoluted question, but any info would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to wait 8 weeks to order one. Thank you!!!

Counterbalance has less shaft lean.  Even if you managed to change grips and keep the balance (you won't) they would not be the same putters.
