Hilton Head Island Christmas trip

Going to HHI for the holiday week. Does anyone know which courses are open? It looks like many do not have tee times available on Christmas Day. Is the town shut down that day? It looks like just a few restaurants are open. @T-MAC ?

Just about everything in the South is closed Christmas Day.

Bring a couple of sweaters and a jacket. Mornings will be cool (in the high 40's or low 50's) but will warm up nicely as the day goes along, so you can shed some layers as it gets later.

The only tee times on Christmas day I see available are at Island West. Decent track? Any others?

Island West was on the downslide for several years. But a couple of years ago the management company, which did a really poor job of maintaining the course, was forced out. In the last couple of years the course conditions have improved. Is it the best course in the area? I don't think anyone would say that, but it is playable. If it's the only course that you're going to play while you're in the area, it's not worth coming just to play that course. But if you will be playing other courses while you're here and you're just looking for somewhere to play on Christmas Day, then yes, it's fine to play there.

Sea Pines (Plantation Club) - two courses 

Palmetto Dunes - three courses 

Port Royal - two courses

Palmetto Hall - two courses

Dolphin Head

Oyster Reef

Indigo Run - two courses

I'm not sure what will be open on Christmas DAY but the rest of the week you will be fine.
Do you really need to play golf on Christmas day??
Right now they're calling for rain Mon and Tues anyway.  Wait for better weather and enjoy Christmas Day!

Thanks, @T-MAC, good call. I'll just delay the trip by a day or two and it should be better weather later next week.
