Hit my TD MAX this morning and OH EMM GEEE. It’s so good. It is a TC serial number, 10.5 digitally lofted to 10.9, not sure that really makes any difference compared to off the rack heads but it’s really really good. Ventus Black 7x tipped 1” and 8g up front 14g in back. High, low spin, bomb cuts. Miss is toe side and it does a really good job with that specifically.

Where did you get the TC head?

Went to a DSG retail store yesterday at lunch and ordered the TD Max on their system - stock 9* (I have 4 other Callaway-tipped shafts to try with it).  $200 after a trade-in.  Got an email this morning from Fedex saying the club is going to be delivered today.  24 hour turnaround.  Quickest I've ever experienced.  Helps that it was being sourced from Bessemer, AL and I live in Georgia.

As often happens when I order a new club, the old club starts to perform better than it ever has.  Almost like it knows it might be replaced.  Played yesterday evening with my regular Smoke TD and was hitting it farther than ever.  We'll see how the two compare.  One of them will end up for sale.

Rogue Max LS also 194g on the nose.

I'm going with 20g back, 8g forward and Diamana TB 70 TX at 44".  This thing is the real deal.

Do you have to cut the shaft down when adding the weight?  Also, do you think it would be smart to just buy the weights and adjust per feel, or do think the head flat out performs better at that weight setting?

Seems like you can order 9 degree loft in Denali stiff through gold galaxy for msrp. I will wait until it hits $200 on CPO lol

I just picked mine up yesterday from GG.. Project X Denali Blue 60 stiff… to me it’s like a pool noodle so that thing is going to be listed on eBay if anyone wants that shaft lol

Will this come back in stock on the Callaway site so I can trade some other stuff in with the 2x trade in/trade up deal?  It seems to be available everywhere else except for direct from Callaway.

Must be a way to move other Ai-Smoke product with the 2x trade deal.

They said this was a limited run and won’t get a restock.  Now you might get lucky and see one show up from a customer return but it would be rare.

I’ve had local shops honor the callaway 2x trade in bonus before.

It was in reverse order for me, play shorter club, add weight, but yes, you do need to add head weight and/or use a heavy shaft when shortening the club to get back to a reasonable swing weight.  I'm playing this 1.75" shorter than standard so I will need a significant amount of extra weight.  I'm not 100% sure of the weight settings I'll end up at because I'm kind of flying blind with this head, but I have enough different weights to dial it in.  Right now I'm just starting off with what was working well for me with the Smoke TD although I'm sure it will change with this head.

What driver are you coming from?  Interested to see how these stack up against Ping.  The TD Max would seem most comparable to the 10K no?

So I had the Paradym TD, went to the QI10LS but never really got comfortable. The Paradym TD had been the best driver I had hit. The buddy I got it from had 430 LST’s as well and loved it but said the Ai Smoke TD and TD Max were strike for strike 7-12 yards longer. They’re just faster than the Ping, which has always been the knock on them, however good they are. Don’t get me wrong, Finau, and plenty others have no issue moving them.

I did loft up a good amount. Not specifically per the head but on the recommendation of my friend. We have similar swings, get a bit steep on it and I had struggled with spin. Always went low loft to try and combat but he said you should actually do the opposite, which I did and it has proven correct.

Honestly I don’t think either compare to the 10k. I’d agree TD Max to LST. TD probably slightly less forgiving and spin.

I appreciate the details.  This part especially intrigues me as it sounds like my tendencies with driver.  I have contemplated going higher lofted head but have typically gone 9° with the loft sleeve +1

It is confusing that the class the Max for distance and adjustability, but class the TD Max as control and workability.

So if one is a little shallow and has a +4 or so up on the driver, one should try and use a lower loft?

I mean I’m no instructor but I’d think the more up your angle of attack the less lost you could go with. Theoretically.

So is it open and fade bias or more neutral? I am still gaming the Rogue Triple Diamond S that was neutral and I feel like from a launch perspective would be similar but that Triple Diamond S was an even smaller footprint than the regular Triple Diamond.

Way more open than my Rogue Max LS.  Marginally less open than my Smoke TD or my standard Rogue TD.  Outside of tour models and TD models, most of Callaway drivers sit very closed if you even turn them up 1 degree.  I've turned this up 2 degrees to 11 and it still looks slightly open to my eye.  Honestly it's the best looking driver Callaway has put out in many years, in my own opinion of course.  It won't appeal to everyone, it has a larger footprint which some people won't like.  The face also isn't all that deep, but there is a lot I'm personally excited about.

In a vacuum, possibly.  Not a good answer, I know, but it depends on other factors, especially swing speed, shaft and driver model. If you are thinking you're not getting optimal launch numbers and are unsure of why, you really should get fitted.

I’m in love.
Perfect stick for me.
Beat my gamer consistently today. (TSR2) which I love.. but I have to justify my $600+ purchase and the 5-6 extra yards I got today- in the fairway too… I’ll take it.
Really get along well with the Denali Black too.
Fun times.

So not “flipping it”

cheers 🍻
