Left Dot

My guess is no.  Maybe there will be a limited release to clear out some stock, but I don't think they will do a production run unless they come up with an updated version.

When the AVX got shifted down a tier in the Titleist marketing scheme, I was hopeful that that meant the left dot would replace it as the 4th pro V offering.  But, I was recently talking to someone that pointed out that the left dot is actually a ball from 2013 or 2015, which means the core technology in particular is somewhat old.  As a result, he was saying (not sure if he knew from experience or from assumptions about improvements) that the left dot produces lower ball speeds than the newer balls, so it is unlikely that Titleist would bring a "slow" Pro V to retail.  Of course, they could still update it, but given that, like the AVX, the left dot fits a very niche market (I think only Finau and maybe Rose play it on tour), it seems unlikely they'd put much effort into a new version of that.  Hopefully I'm wrong, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for it.

Or…maybe the Left Dot then falls into the supposed 30% of current balls that would pass the 2028 speed mandate.

So yeah, they’ll be available then.🤔

I know it won't happen, but that would be pretty funny if all the people paying $300 for a dozen find out they've actually been playing a short ball.

  • 1 month later...

The head pro at my local golf course said he was on a call with Titleist and was told that the put alot of the left dot tech into the 2023 ProV1. With that said, maybe they didn't feel the need to add another ball to the lineup and instead incorporated it into the 2023 V1.

They also stated a ProV1 Star and ProV1X Plus is coming out --- whether that is tour seeding and/or very limited quantity like the Left Dot is unknown...

Thats the standard Titleist line about the V1 and left dot but the reality is the left dot is so unique, many tour guys moved back to the left dot when they realized the new V1 doesnt perform like the left dot does....so whatever tech they are talking about, doesnt equate to performance on the course

i play the left dot and i can tell you this ball is the best ive ever hit......its long AF and has a great feel......plays like a v1 around the greens.....for me its the perfect ball

Agreed. I don’t know what the special sauce is but I love the ball too.

They don't have a Star or a Plus coming out- they already exist and are in play on tour but will never be available to the masses.

Same here.  Left Dot is perfect for me.  Longer with the driver, and better feel/spin around the greens than AVX.  I was able to get 6 dozen through my club late last season and have yet to use them.  I'm afraid I won't be able to get more.  Plan is to use Maxfli Tour S early in the season, then use the Left Dot once the weather gets better.

It would be great if Titleist could update the left dot with a core to make it as fast as the newer models. As-is, the core is definitely slower and outdated. I guess if they changed the core it might lose some of the properties that make it left dot. That’s the only issue with these older iterations of Pro V1.

I disagree...the left dot core is being used in the newer V1......so its not outdated at all....

The Titleist rep told me the same thing about the 2023 ProV being incredibly similar to left dot. Saying there was no longer a need for it because they are so close

That list makes sense!  Especially the younger three since they are ridiculously long.

I play with a guy that cruises in the 120's with driver and can hit 130 if he wants and he struggles with keeping the ball down.  Was a mini tour player and an ex left dot user but can't get them anymore.  The closest ball we have found in compression/feel, ball flight, spin, etc is the Wilson Staff Model R or as mentioned before, for most player ProV1.  I went to the PGA show a couple months back and asked if dot would be available at retail and the guy said no.

If we keep this thread active maybe Titleist will succumb to the influence that Golfwrx has on the industry and make them available at retail.

If you get fit from your local Titleist rep and ball fitter rep they can then special order them if you fit into them.  My local rep said there are very few that actually fit into when they go through a formal fitting.  I was lucky to get a few dozen and have some left, I do like it off the driver but I lose too much spin on the shorter shots inside of 40-50 yards and the regular V1 is just a better fit.

I saw left dots at a local retail store going for $99.99 a dozen or $25 for 1 sleeve. Looks like they had about 5 dozen or so.

You should have bought them.  They're selling for $140-150 a dozen on eBay.

after shipping and eBay fees I'm probably netting what $20-$30 each dozen? didn't seem worth it for the job unless someone buys the whole lot....if anybody in southern CA is interested PM me and I'll tell them the store.
