-dash vs tp5x

Emac005

Recommended Posts

I stopped playing left dash two years ago because the price was ridiculous. I switched over to the TP5x and noticed a drop off on distance but the ball still responded How I wanted it to in other areas. Titleist has now dropped their -dash down to $55 a dozen and TP5x is now up to $55. I’m thinking of a switch back but was wondering if anyone had any experience with both golf balls. Is it worth going back or is titleist going

to drive up prices again once the season starts?

Prices shouldnt go up, they have a better supply line for it now.

Huh when was the dash higher? It was two years ago when you stopped playing them?

I been getting them off the titleist site for 55 I think for at least last season? Guess I just don’t remember them being higher.

2 years ago they were up to $70. Now at $55 I’ll be using them again. First ball in a while that i noticed the extra 5-7 off the tee

Picked up a sleeve of the TP5X.  I liked the numbers and have played the left dash and x from titleist the last couple of years.  Not fully committed to changing but indoor numbers tell me I get a little more spin and distance out of the new Taylormade

I want to see how it reacts outside in playing conditions.  Love Trackman, but there is nothing that replaces actual feel and results to see how it performs outside

Very interesting as the dash is my current ball. I’ll have to check the TP5X out. I’ve played a few found ones here and there but never given it a real look.

Especially feel. The 2019 TP5X was almost as hard as the LD. Since then it's been made progressively softer with each newer version. The latest is a damned good ball.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

Took it down in driver distance? That's impressive

Granted...I'm not a 120+ SS guy, so maybe someone faster will have different outcome.  But yeah, for me, during testing for a few days in a row.  TP5X was longer than -Dash.  Pretty good stuff.

Just a money grab. They are probably trying to get rid of all their inventory before the balls aren’t usable anymore.

meh I doubt they'll have problems doing that

you know how many people are just gonna buy a ton to just have a stockpile of them?

who knows man, it's probably just as nuts to spend 55 on them tbh

What was your main reason for going to the -Dash? I've played the Pro V1 and X back and forth since 2013. I want to try the new TP5X....I love everything about the Pro V1X except being shorter off the tee.

Did you find the provx to be shortest off

the tee? Last years TP5x felt great so I am guessing the newer version will feel great too. For myself, 3 years ago when i went to left dash i noticed 5-7 yards off

the tee and i could still spin the ball as i wanted

There was one reason only for me to try -Dash.  Distance.  I did not like the feel or green side control.  There's no doubt it is a long golf ball.  Two new balls passed -Dash in distance for me this year and that's, CT and TP5X.  Both balls feel softer and spin more around the greens, so win win.  But, you can't go wrong with either of the Titleist balls.  They are both obv very good...

How do you think the new TP5X compares to the 2022 Bridgestone BX? I apologize if you have mentioned it in an earlier post

Very interested in this as well because i tried to go to Bridgestone early last year but the weird dimple pattern look I couldn’t get used to. I couldn’t control when it checked or not

I agree it does seem to roll out a bit more than others. But I kind of like the dimple pattern it reminds me of the Wilson pro staff from about 40 years ago when I just started golfing as a kid lol everybody wanted those balls

Premium ball prices are still ridiculous.  LOL the key to playing DASH or...regardless of their price, keep it in the fairway.  I seldom lose balls to anything other than wear, then to the shag bag.

I did test TP5x, and it didn't pass distance muster compared to DASH -ProV1x; which I have been playing for some time now.  DASH spins around the green as well as its brother, ProV1x.  If there's a negative because of compression at 102 x-firm, it has a unique sound.

Here in SOCAL, and AZ, TX and Maui, places I play, the season never ends. 🙂

The new Tp5X def flew higher off the irons than BX and spun a little less around the greens.  Also, TP5X is a little longer off the tee.  Both feel clicky off the putter, with the nod in feel going to BX.   22 BX is a proven all round great ball.

Thank you for your help I was able to load up on the 22 bx for half price and I think I’m going to stick with them for this year

I’m gonna test that out soon.   Played yellow BX mostly last year and loved it.  Tried the new yellow AVX and really liked it as well.  About to give the PIX TP5x a go.

I have been testing the new TaylorMade TP5X.

Please note that this is the ball with the two dashes on each side of the TP5X logo. There has been some confusion. This ball has only come out in the past three weeks.

I must say that I played the TP5 and X since the ball came out originally. I have mostly played the TP5, but as the models changed I occasionally played the X version.

BUT the last models of both balls, I didn't not like and I experimented with numerous other options from the TM Tour Response, Srixon, Bridgestone, Callaway, Maxfli Tour X and even the Titleist ProV1 X Left Dash over the past two years. By the way the Left Dash was the first time I have really ever liked a Titleist for regular competitive play probably due to it not playing like another "Titleist" (long story and I have made various comments about them online here and elsewhere over the past 25+ years)

Well, it is early in the testing and weather has created some limitations to a complete view! BUTI must say the Love appears to be BACK at least with the TP5X.  Very impressive! This is a completely new ball over the last iteration. It appears to have less spin off of the driver (the last one spun way too much especially on balls that weren't exactly dead center hits). It is consistently longer on all shots. I have found it to be as long or longer than the Left Dash (which has been the longest "players" ball I had found that still could be excellent in the short game for me).  While playing practice rounds with others and hitting multiple balls, playing partners could immediately tell when I hit the TP5X because they noted a different sound. Comments were that it sounded "rich", "deep" "explosive" and some other interesting comments. It appears that the compression appears to be up from where it was. Left Dash users should like this ball. I got a dozen to give it a real look and happy I did. I have not tested the TP5. I was informed that it has not changed as dramatically as the X version. I understand lower compression, more spin of full shots and a different more muted sound.

As long as it putts softer then left dash.  HATE how hard the left dash is to putt with

I felt with the AVX i gained almost half a club with my irons which I’m not really looking for. They felt unreal though

FYI: If your ball isn't spinning, look at how your club head is impacting the ball.   It might be your swing, not the ball.  Also, it's possible that you're not hitting the ball hard enough.

If you hit down on the back side of the ball, hard, while clubhead travels through or sweeps the ball, leaving a nice scrap or no divot, you will increase spin.  I am a sweeper/scraper, yet add spin using my new T100 irons, and Dash-ProV1x or AVX.  Yesterday, I hit a 9 iron into a short 130yd Par 3 green; Dash landed in the middle of the green and began to spin backward 5'+ ending pin high.

PS  I was so unimpressed with the new AVX I gave the sleeve to my playing partner.
