Why are people complaining about short courses? Remember, shorter courses makes distance less important as a whole and opens it up to shot making. I see that as a positive.

Short and tight yes but if the longer guys can bomb it over everything they just get an extra advantage. Now being HK I'm going to assume a more narrow course but these are pros so will have to see.

We saw it last night.  Hole #4 is a perfect example, roughly 290yards.  Bryson took 9-iron off the tee.

That there is narrow as heck I'm sure there will be a ton of divots by those bunkers after the weekend is over.

But the hole to the left of it, that one definitely looks way more open to go after a big tee shot.

That played as hole 3, and yes, he took driver and absolutely crushed one.  Quite a ways downhill though, so iirc he was less than 150yds in with his second shot, so his driver went over 400yds.  One of four holes he took driver.

Neiman took 3W and Cam put his driver into the big bunker on the right side of the fairway.

What you said makes sense, but that's true everywhere. Long hitters always have an advantage, but that advantage is minimized when you make a course shorter. For example, if they play a par 3 course that takes driver out of their hands and gives the short hitters a chance. Make a course long and tough? That plays to the longer hitters advantage. It's part of the reason why Tiger Woods was so dominant at Firestone and Torrey Pines for example. This sounds like a simplification but it's a basic fact at this point, it's been proven by the stats.

How about the rough? If you make the fairways harder to hit again it plays to the long hitters advantage. This is because on the PGA Tour everyone hits the ball with a similar enough level of accuracy off the tee (usually) and when the short hitter misses they are penalized harshly. It's why the US Open has become a bombers paradise. Obviously you still need to hit the ball well enough off the tee, but that extra ~20 yards the long hitters have easily makes up for missing a few more fairways.

I don’t think we’re talking enough about how the Stingers have gone from potential #1 draft pick to title contenders in the span of 3 weeks. I obviously take back everything I said about tanking. Grace is by far the weakest link on this team. If we get Higgo next year watch out!

I was actually expecting the Mighty Stingers to be at the top consistently, at least early on in the season.  A bunch of these guys played a lot during the winter, winning multiple DP Tour sanctioned events.  They seemed the most prepped team coming into the season.  They are still sitting in second overall in the year-end standings.  I think the pain of seeing them getting absolutely freight trained by The Crushers on day 3 at Jeddah will eventually wear off.

Looking at the standings it is a lot like F1 standings.  A couple teams out front, a lot of mid packers, and holy hell 3-4 teams at the bottom scrapping for every single point they can get.  I feel like there should be a mercy rule for the Majestiks.

The iron heads/hyflyers should be relegated to the Asian Tour and have to earn their way back. Anyone on the majesticks should be banned from pro-golf in any capacity. That team is a waste of space and I don’t think they’re even trying at this point

I watched parts of the second round on free YouTube for breakfast, together with 9.000 (!) other enthusiasts. I love the old style layout of the place. It’s not too hard for the good players. Attendance was so-so, the bleachers on 17 and 18 look massive but there are not too many people in there, it seems.

I asked myself two things:

Why do they keep playing loud music? This doesn’t attract younger people, it disturbs the viewer‘s experience. The atmosphere is like when they play a golf tournament next to a State Fair.

Second: Is is just me, or does it seem that none of the players really seems to care what he does out there? The only one who seems pissed if he hits a bad shot is Jon Rahm. No celebrating good shots, no swearing when they miss. They all just plod along, like in a practice round. There is no there there.

The music is an interesting topic.  Guess I could see it for the range, but on course seems very odd and certainly distracting to me as a viewer.  I can't image the idea can from the players. So who is the brain child beyond the idea?

I'm sure each player wants to do well, but the entire 'caring' perception is overblown.  Put a camera on any weekend $5 nassau game and you'll see passion and caring, we just suck.  The insane amount of guaranteed money (that's been shoved down our throats) is what makes us question a players body language.

No one out there is playing for their next meal, so I imagine it's not hard to shrug off a poor performance; then it's just a walk in the park.
