The return of the Black Swan

I am a big fan of LAB Golf putters. A recent post on the Lab golf members Facebook page made reference to a putter called The Black Swan. It is a very large, stand alone putter made famous by Sandy Lyle at the Master’s golf tournament several years ago. My curiosity got the best of me so I went on eBay just to see if it was available. To my surprise, someone was selling one. I got it at a great price with the intention to goof around on the practice green with some of my buddies. One of them has a Lab DF2.1  which is considered a very large putter. It actually is small compared to the enormous Black Swan. 
The lie angle is around 68 which is 10 degrees lower than my putters. I grabbed a couple of balls and tried this unique Bird on my home putting mat. I must say, it has an amazing solid feel and was really accurate on the few putts I hit. I’m heading out latter today to try it out on the practice green at our coarse.

Just wanted to post an update after using the black Swan on the course and practice putting green. Again a very solid feel and accurate. I had a few golfing buddies who own LAB putters try it and all agreed how solid it felt. Late in the day at the range where I play, I ran into one of the staff who happens to be a low handicap player. I told him about the history of this putter and encouraged him to try it. He took it to the practice putting green and tried it out. Some of the other staff came over to se this monstrosity of a putter and between laughs, most thought the same, very solid and a legit putter. I have since removed the shaft and will be milling out the hole to change the lie angle from 68 to my very upright preference of 76-78. I'm doing this with the possibility of using it as my gamer. Now the bigger problem I must solve, finding a head cover. I've been using a winter ski cap. Nothing else really fits!

Looks like that is going to be a custom job to find a cover for that...

78 lie angle is pretty significant. Do you armlock?

A winter parka should due for the headcover

No Armlock believe it or not. I've always been slightly more upright and found it locks my wrists better enabling me to take the club back straighter
