Black Chrome Srixon ZX7 MKII

Has anybody purchased the Black Chrome irons from Srixon? I'm gonna pull the trigger on a new set of MKII's, and love the look of the irons, but have my concerns on wear... anyone play them for any amount of time?  Are you seeing any wear?

Black finish irons do not wear well. I would not buy them in the black finish if you don't want to see wear.

Faces look terrible after a few rounds.  Dont get the appeal....

I just bought a set today. I wouldn’t call them black, they are more of black chrome look….similar to a vokey nickel finish. I think it will wear great! I have a set of black pxgs and they hold up amazing, so I wouldn’t let the the finish scare you.

I was chatting with the Srixon rep and he was saying they have been wearing very well. No complaints yet from customers. It's almost like a chrome black. I am sure what process their using to make them black. I put an order in, exited to try them.... 

 

Just have to decide if the zx7's are going to beat my Blueprint S.

Thanks all. I'm not too worried about just basic wear, but there are levels of acceptable wear and then there is just plain bad black coatings.

Unless it's the same process that Cobra uses, I would avoid. Look at how Callaway Apex irons that are black look after a few years of use. Soles will be totally worn off and the face looks splotchy.

All black irons I've ever seen look terrible in a short amount of time except the DBM finish Maltby uses that is engrained in the metal and not a coated finish

The only black irons I have seen wear very well is the black cobra Forged Tec's. But I remember reading somewhere that Cobra used some sort of special process to make the black not get so scuffed and bad looking. Friend has a new set of Gen 6 pxg irons in black. Interested to see how those wear.

not sure about mizuno but my dark 0311 pxgs are not wearing like other brands. Their black finish is perfect

Buy the black and enjoy them for the first 2 month. Just be prepared for sole and sweet-spot wear. If your like me, the entire face will turn shiny 🙂

Guys, @Sir Stymie @Golfballwackerguy17 the title and the iron description from Srixon literally says “Black Chrome”.  There is no thinking that they look more of a black chrome, they are.  
 

I have a set of the black chrome ZX5s. They have about 10 rounds and a few practice sessions.  They do show wear, but not that much.  Although I don’t really mind if they do wear a bit.  They look amazing at address and I’m really happy with them so far.

where did u get them finished like that or did u buy them directly from Srixon

Directly from Srixon.  They were a special edition run for the ZX5 and ZX7.  Looks like Srixon only has the ZX7 Black Chrome available now, but you may be able to find the ZX5 on other sites.  I was told they only made a small number of sets.  Also, you have to buy the entire set, 4-W.
