Putter Reps are sharks out on Tour, second only to the shaft reps.  They are constantly making up putters for players, even before the player asks.  Thinking at some point something with stick.  OSU paint job, the OSU cowboy logo, special OSU themed grip/putter cover, whatever.  

 

I have said this many times, there are a lot of reps who don't care if a player ever makes a cut as long as their company wins the Darrell Survey count on Thursday with that player using their stuff.  Really need a Sunday survey to see what those who do make the cut actually play.

That’s an interesting insight? So was this just a club he was handed? Or one that he asked for? Or do you even know? 
 

with social media these days and you pictures being stolen and posted half a billion times by dozens of people this picture alone creates buzz for whoever..

The rep handed the putter to Andrew and said they made it for Rickie. No idea if Rickie even took the putter, roiled any putts with it or asked for it to be made or what  
 

You’re 100% correct that a photo that shows up on Golfwrx gets “stolen” and shared across a lot of social media sites which can help create a buzz when there really isn’t any

 

A lot of new stuff will show up out here and I get asked if I’ll shoot it. Depends on who asks and if I feel it’s legit. My response to a lot of the crap is get it in a player’s bag and I’ll shoot it but I’m not going to give you tour validation when no one even has ever hear of you or the product!

 

Sadly it’s only going to get worse

It reminds me of every time Tiger gets photographed holding someone else's club and the rumor mill immediately goes into overdrive about how he's playing some new weird piece of kit, when in reality he just handed it back like 5 seconds later. 😅

Obviously haven’t experienced things even a fraction as much as you have but can confirm that these reps are there to push product and will slick talk their way to doing so however they can. 
 

Have noticed a few will ask a player to test a product and then post pictures of the players using it (more often than not just to be polite) just to get them pumped out as “so and so using new whatever”. 
 

A Sunday Darrell survey would be a good idea.

We used to but the contract the Tour has with Getty Image won't allow Golfwrx photos to we watermarked.
