after he breaks the records and retires....will all the lovers quit golf and go away? 'you the man' might go away too.

LOL...you, my man = just another hater.. :)

You the man was here before Tiger came and isn't going anywhere..since we are in America :cheesy:

and if he's done, you and your squeaky clean, men in white robe folks will have your precious golf game back..just the way you want it.. :) come to think of it, unless you are Scottish this game is not yours ;)

ha!

try wo-man.

what does being in america have to do with 'you the man'?

what men in white robes? wtf are you talking about?

but from the sounds of it..after Tiger is retired...you agree that the game would return to a more revered state.

and i think that's all i was wishing for.

nice try tho.

completely agree that he is king. and someone will come along and replace him.

I would hazard to bet that barring some unforseen injury or other tragedy, Tiger will make records that no one will ever beat. There ARE some sports records like that:

-UCLA 7 NCAA basketball titles in a row

-DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak

-Wilt's 100 pt game and 55 rebounds

-Nolan Ryan's 7 no hitters

i hear you there. but i think i'll hang out and wait to see the records actually broken before i make the statement. do i believe the man will break some of the records....without a doubt. and i am enjoying being able to sit back and watch history in the making. i am not sure i'll see another golfer dominate the field like TW does. but i anxiously wait for the other golfer(s) who might be able to step up and make it a little tougher.

blow-outs are not entertaining....IMO. golf with Jack, Arnie, Watson, et al was much more fun to watch....again...my opinion.

Tiger Woods' fault....nope.......

this has been hashed and re-hashed.....meh.

congrats to tiger for a great putt and another win. yay.

wtf are you on about?

the game will return to a revered state? :)

"you the man" started in America so yes it has everything to do with America. Shows your ignorance.

Nothing to do with Tiger, but when he is done, you and John Daly can go about rebuilding the game. :cheesy:

If nimwits like you aren't appreciating what he's doing, I am pleased that on 4th of July, he will host the AT&T in DC, and there will be thousands of people supporting the tournament to showcase veterans of all eras. :)

Absolutely amazing.

More impressive than the amazing talent and incredible work ethic is how he is almost pathologically competitive.

They used to say Jordan wanted his sixth title more than any other player wanted their first. Tiger is the same way. Where a lot of guys are content just to be in the hunt, he wants to crush everyone each and every week. Amazing.

Ahh man you missed the fun on 16 fairway. That little chit chat they had in 16 fairway I got to hear live and it was totally laid back. The best line was when Tiger said, "Nah man it's cool. Just stop me if that flag shifts at all" and Stevie said ok, grabbed the bag, and turned around and stared at the big American flag that was behind them. Turned back around after contact.

They also chatted on 18 fairway for a bit about what type of 5 to hit. The minute that ball hit 18 green, I knew he knew exactly how it was gonna break. Looked just like the 2001 location, and sure enough, interview he said it was in the same general location but just a little more deep into the green.

I ran up towards the grandstand and saw Tiger start to run towards the back of the green, but then got lost in the people standing on chairs. Thank you Sportscenter for the replay.

Did anyone catch Woody Austin's post-round comments on Tiger's streak? I saw a bit of it on this morning's Golf Central. He stated that Tiger has only played in 3 US tourney's this year. I think he was implying that since Tiger takes SO MUCH TIME OFF during the season he does not technically have a streak. The man is entitled to his opinion and I am sure some of you agree with him but you know Tiger is going to use it as motivation next time.

I used to think that someday, somebody would come along(they just have too, right?) and be as good as Tiger. Kind of like Jack taking over as the best from Arnie and then Tiger coming along and taking over from Jack as the best. Well I don't think that way anymore!! What we are seeing here is history, unlike anything that any sport has ever seen. This guy is not human!! I think Johnny Miller might be right when he said that someday we will come to find out Tiger has the ability to will putts in the hole. He could be supernatural!!

Can somebody....ANYBODY, please step their game up. I mean 10 people are tied or within a shot of the lead with Tiger and no one can make a move? I guess the silver lining was he didn't blow the field out and kept it close.

I think Bryant stepped it up. He stood there eye-to-eye with the best player in the world and didn't blink. He made the best player in the world prove he was exactly that.

Also, I think Vijay Singh showed a bit of why it appears that good players spit the bit when faced against Tiger. IMO, they try heroic shots that they would not try if they didn't have Tiger prowling. Singh said that he tried a line that was too aggressive after his miss in the water on Saturday. Would he have done that without Tiger being in the field? IMO, probably not. And I believe you can account for a lot of the misses in the water on 16 from the players knowing that Tiger would get his shot on 16 within birdie range. (Which, the way he's putting, is anywhere on the green plus the fringe!)

Glad to be alive to see him play.

I think Dan Jenkins' column in the new Golf Digest this month pretty much sums up Woody Austin, in my opinion. Lickliter too. (II?)

He has to motivate himself somehow. It sure wasn't by winning at Bay Hill.

Tiger is AMAZING. But, you have to feel for Bryant. He really needed the win to get the invite to the Masters. Oh well, Tiger ain't in the business of gifting victories to his competitors...

You mean Tiger ain't in the Cinking business? :)

Cink? Sunk.

Maybe this will rev him up a bit, though: He's a likeable 2000-era version of Wayne Levi.

That's the Tiger difference. Play for your place in history, not for the money.

So, let me get this straight, he is trying to motivate himself by motivating the #1 player in the world to want to crush him? His face to fist style of motivation is strange to me.

Pretty much. That's why I thought Jenkins summed him up pretty well. :)

He didn't exactly stand eye to eye. He played in a different group then Tiger. I think if Bryant played with Tiger you might of seen a different outcome. Like Tiger winning by 3 or 4 instead of 1.

I just think Woody was being honest , he was just counting howmany in a row Tiger has one different than the media does.

The question lurks if you are going to compare this streak to Lord Byrons what are the rules.

I for one have no idea what would be fair but I think Woody was just giving and honest opinion and not trying to stir up a thing.

On a side note playing with Tiger or not Bart Bryant has shown when he is on his game he is not intimidated by Tiger as badly as so many others .

This guy was trying to get in Doral and the Masters and still shot 67 give him lots of credit he deserves it. Dirt Jr manned up .

Tiger is simply Tiger the best the game has seen in a long time if not forever, I am amazed at his motivation and how hard he works. He is the man no doubt about it. I could name a dozen or so players I wish could grow a pair but it just does not happen.

Numbers don't lie though, people who play WITH Tiger in a final round tend to have a higher scorer average. I just think it was easier for him to play better a few groups ahead of Tiger.

Media simply puts it how it is, Tiger has won 5 in a row. Why would anyone need to read more into it? Who cares if it is not back to back tournaments. Does anyone discount Byron Nelson because the talent he played against wasn't even close to what Tiger faces?
