Modus 120 or 125 x flex, does it play soft for an X?

Hello all

 

Currently use KBS 120 stiff in my irons with pretty good results. I do like the feel of modus as I used to have them in my old srixons a few years back in 120 stiff.

 

My question is does the x flex in 120 and 125 play a noticeable amount stiffer than the S flex in 120?

 

I found a nice set of used irons that have these in them. Trying not to have to pay for reshafting them if I can.

What's noticeable is very subjective and not easy to predict for any particular individual.   It also depends on how close a fit the profile might be.  Now I can tell you that the Modus 120X is actually quite a bit softer than the KBS Tour S with the exception of the very tip.   So the X will be closer to what you have now but it will still move you in the direction of the softer Modus profile.

 

BUT - that's not necessarily a reason to use X instead of S in the modus.  If the S worked really well before, no reason to think it might not still work.  In fact the softer profile might be why you liked it so much.   So if you want to go back to the same feel as the S, then that's the shaft you should probably get, not the X.

 

But that's all just speculation.  Only way to be sure is to demo the X and S side by side.

I have played stiff flex shafts from various brands for years and years, most recently KBS Tours.  I purchased a set of Mizuno Pro 223 + Modus 120X shafts with the expectation that I would reshaft them if they were too stiff, but I've found that the 120X plays very well with my swing.

No.  The 125 is not as soft in the butt/middle sections.  It's the closest profile in the Modus line to Dynamic Gold

So would it play closer to an S300 with a smoother bend profile?

I played S300 for years, and played a set of irons with Modus 125X for a few months, and they were very, very similar.

I have a set of 125x hardstepped.  The play like a little lighter feeling x100.  The main differences is x100 feels heavier and  stiffer in the short irons and looser in the long irons.  The modus 125x feels the same to me through the set.

 

i also think the modus launch a bit higher with a less spin and a more neutral spin axis.  They just want to go straight.

 

to me the s300 feels much looser than x100 or 125x.  Its closer to 120 s or x
