Fake Bettinardi

Thinking this is a counterfeit Bettinardi. Thoughts?

 

The funny thing is that I bought 3-4 different QB6’s with different grips and lengths and settled on what I think is the fake one.

Rare to see fakes with such milling marks... thing looks real to me. I'm no expert, but just the quality of machining, the nice crisp milled text and graphic on the bottom, and that intricate milled face... nothing about it appears fake to me.

Yeah, that’s the weird thing. The workmanship looks good. But I can’t find this exact sole design anywhere.

I can't believe that there is a huge market for counterfeit left-handed Bettis - particularly in that model - so I would be surprised if it was a fake.

But when was this particular sole design released. I thought this was 2023 originally but when I looked at their archive it’s not shown anywhere

Yeah, the placement of the "Milled in the USA" line is obviously different on your putter than the layout of production putters shown on various websites.  

 

Also, it does seem that AliExpress offers a version of this putter - but the sole design looks the same as production models. So hell, your guess is as good as mine. 

 

It might be worth trying to contact Bettinardi directly and send them photos. Maybe they have a story for you. 

 

Regardless, I do wish you the best of luck. Bettinardi does make a fine putter.

It does. Rolled this one better head to head against 4-5 other putters

My first thought was... come on man, it's a left-handed, well-used Bettinardi. No WAY it's fake.

 

But I don't recognize that sole design, and that's super weird. I can't imagine that's fake, but I don't know how to explain it. Have you weighed the head? If it's within a couple grams of spec, I think that'd cinch the authenticity. I'd be curious as to what Bettinardi says about it.

Head weight is 361.5 grams. So 0.5 grams off the 362 standard. Could just be 0.5 grams lost in the shaft removal/prep.

I'm guessing .5 grams is within their production tolerances.

I’d expect that too. Just noting that it was probably perfect before I had the shaft removed.

The weird thing is, Queen B's have a "#" before the number ... they have just been B6 since like 2014.

Bettinardi confirmed over email that this is an authentic design.

I, too, picked up a queen b that I questioned and received an email confirming it was authentic after providing pictures. They used both “Made in the USA” and “Milled in the USA” on headcovers at different times- same exact design just flip flopped milled and made.

This is what I was expecting. Congrats. Killer putter from a maker of great putters.
