what ball do you use?

Are you scatch players using a very high spin ball? If so what's your choice.

Nike One Platinum here. Undoubtedly, I'm losing some distance with the driver and 3 wood, but I like to fit a ball to my game backwards - with short game being the principal concern rather than maxing out the driver as a lot do.

 

I also like a ball that's as close to the old balatas as I can get in a modern ball - since I still play long irons and a bit of extra spin helps me get a hanging flight on those 1 and 2 irons; plus I still like to work the ball, and a higher spin rate helps me out there too.

 

The NOP seems to compare favorably to any other ball in the above aspects, and it's durable too.

Callaway Tour Ix or Taylor Made TP Red (2008) are the two primary choices.

 

I tested most of the other premium balls and all are pretty good. I can't get into the Nike balls though. The Black feels a bit harsh and doesn't spin as well on the greens. The Platinum plays wonderfully around the greens but I feel like I give up a bit too much in distance with the driver and irons (might test that ball a bit more though).

I'm not too crazy about the new Callaway tour ix. Doesn't have the same feel on the greens as the Tour 56.

i use the pro v1x but i've always spun it a ton and i still feel like i have great feel around the greens and such.

Played the Pro V1x since it came out, but just switched to the Bridgestone B330 and 330s. Still trying to decide which one is better. The Bridgestone seems a little longer and straighter than the Pro V1x to me. It's a little cheaper, but that's not really a factor, just a perk.

B330 this year. Last year was Srixon Z-URS, but it had too much spin IMO. Never tried the Z-UR.

HX Tour 56. Played the ProV1x for years but recently switched over...the HX Tour 56 feels a little bit better around the greens...

B-330, I have tried the B-330s and the Srixon URS but both had a little more spin than I liked, I have been playing the 330 for a couple of years and it is a very predictable ball.

I spin the ball a lot, so I like less spin no matter what.

 

I use Srixon Z-UR (yes the older one, I still have 6 doz.)

 

And also the Pro V1X. I also like the Precept U-tri tour,

Switched from Pro V1x to Pro V1 last year. Looking for something that feels buttah off of the puttah. I reeeeeeeeeally like a soft feel (Played the Professional before this) but the Pro V will have to do for now.

Love how it spins, I think it's quite durable for a premium ball, feels super soft off the putter face, distance is decent and for some reason it doesn't get pushed around as much in the wind for me.

 

Oh yeah, saving a few bucks/dozen doesn't hurt either!

Pro V1x.

 

Kind of starts with the feel off the putter first. Definitely can "feel" the difference in balls the most there. But mostly how it reacts around the green. Alot of chips I like to carry to the hole and then stop. Less expensive balls just don't have the spin to hold the green from distance. Tested them all, and keep coming back to the Titleist.

Taylor Made TP red. It is the best ball for me. I fly it farther than any other ball and I can knock it down as well. Plus the spin is great on it. Not too much, not too little. And the feel is about where I want a ball to be at.

Tp Red. Haven't tried the new LDP's. Changed from HX Tours. Lower flight but more greenside spin with Tp Red.
