I hit the SUMO about two weeks ago and wasn't overly impressed with the ball flight. Ball seemed just to just go up and fall out of the sky. Enjoyed the SQ much more than the SUMO personally. Hit the thing a mile and had a much better ball flight.

I am wondering if you were hitting the right shaft/club combination. I think the Sumo is very good...The Sumo Tour Square is an amazing stick for someone with excess spin issues.

I had a chance to play around with the Tour (5900) a few weeks ago and it is indeed a must try. Easily the best sounding, performing and feeling Nike club I've yet to try. This one just may go down in the books as the 2008 driver of the year.

Tour (5900) w/ Mitsubishi Fubuki anyone?

Looking forward to your comparison review sandy.

1. Get fitted.

2. Get fitted.

3. Get fitted.

Personally, I think this is THE BEST driver that has come out of the Oven.

I find this to be an interesting statement. In theory I completely agree with all three of your points. In reality, I am a normal consumer, with no access to tour vans or what not.

I have been to get fitted twice at my local store. Both times I was told the 360 Nike fitting cart is not going full retail for quite a while. Both times I wanted to get 'fitted' but to my knowledge there are no stores carrying stock of the 'irregular' shafts. So if you want a V2 or whatnot, you have to guess at the numbers or order it and pay up front for it.

I hardly call this a fitting. I don't know if things are different in the U.S. but here in Canada most of my friends have had similar complaints. You can't really get fitted for a SUMO 5900 unless you want a stock shaft.

At the end of the day I liked the driver enough to settle for a stock, stiff shaft, but I have a feeling I was better suited to the V2. I won't know for months though when the fitting system comes out and it will be too late.

So if you're in an area (U.S.?) that is fortunate enough to stock all the shaft/head combo's, you're lucky. Otherwise, your 'fitting' will be rather limited.

He is not refering to the stock Sumo2 but the Sumo2 Tour; totally different monster. Read the post!

Just food for thought; I've already had them both, the 5000 & 5900 and they both got blown out of the bag by the new 2008 Cobra. It's longer and definitly more workable.

How did you get the Sumo2 Tour??? We are not talking about the stock models (5000 or 5900). I agree it's going to be hard to beat the Cobra L4V however.

That's wierd, I hit the new Cobra and all though it's a nice stick, I didn't feel it was any better than my 2007 Sumo. I would have to say, it's all about the shaft and then personal likes. We all know and agree shaft is key! I'm very interested in the new Sumo2 tour. Can't wait to take a swing at it.

The old Sumo couldn't clean the L4V's shoes in my opinion; sorry right back at ya. Now we will see with the 2 Tour; I should have mine in a week or so.

That's your game! I took the Cobra and my Sumo 2007 and liked my Sumo better, after all of the hype on this thread, and I was ready to buy the Cobra right there if it was better than my stick. Not saying it wasn't good, just wasn't worth $400 + another $200 for a shaft. I hit it with a Fuji Rombax and still wasn't any better than what I have. Was the Cobra good, yes! Was it better, no! Was it equal? Depends on who's the swinger!

We'll have to agree to disagree, but I must say I definitely agree the old SUMO is very hard to clean shoes with. But using the L4V heads as shoe trees is an interesting idea.

RACKEM'!

Hit the Tour 5900 today....wow its such a great feeling head with tons of shaft options(remember ANY shaft Nike offers its all the same price...i.e Diamana Blue or Stock shaft are both $599!!).

The Performance was fantasic as well- very low spin, low launch(I hit the 8.5), 2* open face, crazy solid(it was hard to believe its a nike and square!)

Must try!

I ordered it expedited and got it in 72 hours at my course with blueboard 83. Nike's customer service is the best i've dealt with as they were very honest and upfront on everything. I tried ordering a Cally FTI-LCG and after 4 "concrete" shipdates came and went I finally gave up and Nike was fantastic to deal with on this.

anyone here can refer me to someone to get me one ASAP? I want a 9.5 or 10.5

I don't know where you live but you could probably find a Nike Fitting Cart close to your area...I would recommend finding a facility to get fit for the Sumo2 Tour Square.

If not go to Nikegolf.com and look for fitting retailers.

I called one thanks, he is checking with his rep and Nike direct to see how fast he can get me one, this Fubuki Proto sitting in the corner needs a mate :good:
