Found one on the course

I found a ball on the course yesterday, and I was hoping someone could tell me about it. It's a Callaway "HXOne"
I looked around online but all I found was that it is on the USGA list of approved golf balls. (Link: Page 6 of pdf). That site also gives some basic info about the characteristics of the ball.

I'm just wondering why I can't find any info about this ball. Are these sold in the U.S.?

No, it seems to be surlyn to me--or something like it. I could be wrong, but I'd be really surprised if someone told me this were urethane.

 

I found the ball at Torrey Pines South two days after the US Open, but I'm guessing someone in a previous group had lost it that morning.

 

I figure that it's either a) something sold out of a big-box retailer like Walmart or Target or b) an asian/european release. But that doesn't really narrow it down much.

 

Has anyone seen these in stores?

Maybe you found yourself a prototype of some sorts. I don't think this is alower end ball that you would see at Wal-Mart or Target and I check the tourspec golf website and saw nothing of this ball on their site so I doubt it is an asian or european release ball.

It's a Cally ball made for Tiger. He was trying it out on Tuesday.

 

 

 

On a more serious note I think you may have found a Prototype - cool find none the less.

Yeah it dosn't look urethane to me. Looks more like an HX Hot.

It looks like the HX ERC or whatever it is called (in Japan).

Not a prototype, I just picked up 2 dozen of these balls for $35 at Costco Mission Valley in San Diego.

Played my first round with this ball; had a good feel and was really nice on the greens.

Why does it seem you can only get this ball in/around San Diego? I can't find anything about it or find it for sale anywhere. Maybe it was the range ball at the open or something and these were overstock??? These are usually marked as "practice" though.

Sounds like a good price. Does Costco sell any other good golf stuff? I had a membership but dropped it.

 

Finally - how does the ball play? I wonder if it is like the HX Hot or Warbird.

 

It sounds like some prototype that Cally may have had extra stock and sold it out to Costco. This may be why it is only found in S/Central Calif.

Saw these at Costco in Beaverton, OR a couple weeks ago for $35. I just picked up a pack this week for $30. Nothing on the Callaway website about them. Will be trying them out on the course Monday.

I was at costco this weekend near seattle, and saw these at something like $30 for 24 balls. Seems like a good deal for a 3 peice ball. But I'd like to get some reviews before I buy them. If its anything liket he HX hot, its way to hard and not for me.

 

If anyone has any extensive experience with these, please post a review. I for one am curious.

I found one at Hazeltine National about two weeks ago and have wondered about it ever since. As a big Callaway guy I was kinda shocked I had never heard about it before. I haven't been able to find them for sale in Minnesota though.

Has anyone played this ball that can provide feedback on the performance of the HX One. I recently saw this a the GolfTown store and was interested in finding out how it played on the course.
