I was curious where everyone plays, what are the ratings of the courses, do you have links to them so we can check them out.

I play (2) Clubs in Michigan.

TPC of Michigan, Home of Senior Players Championship in July. 74.7/147 from Tips, www.tpcofmichigan.com

Indianwood Golf & CC. Home of (2) Past Womens U.S. Opens 89', 94' and Former Western Open Site 1930, Won by Gene Sarazen. Old Course Par 70 74.0/136, New Course Par 72 74.2/146 from the Tips. www.indianwoodgolfandcountryclub.com

Looking forward to replys about your courses, so many great ones out there that you never know about.

I used to play here a lot when I lived in Montana:

Rated #1 in the nation for courses under $50. If it were located anywhere else but the small little Montana town it's in, it would be more like $150-$200 a round. Check out the length from the tips(where I always played) and the course rating! (it's under course map)

Favorite course I have ever played is this:

Shot 66 from the tips... my career low. (course record by John Cook is 62)

I now live in AZ and play a ton of different courses. Play a lot of the high end courses in the summer when the rates are dirt cheap.

Member at the Fargo Country Club. Usually my group plays from the tips which run 6900 yds. Slope is 131 rating is 73.7. Nice old course along the Red River with lots of old oaks and elms (until they all die). I play to a 12.5 right now hoping to get below 10 this year.

I joined "Great Southwest" in GrandPrairie (Dallas suburb) TX last year. the link above has a good review of the club. Here are my pros and cons about this club, and being a member of a private club (in general):

PRO:

* It's very secluded, quiet, and a wonderful course that's very free of housing, and development. It's like a little oasis in the city, to get away from the busy world.

* Even though the course is fairly short, there are many interesting holes, and many of the holes require very creative shotmaking, forcing you to work the ball left/right for the best results.

* Course availability is much better than public courses, which is a big relief to me, as I play/practice a lot. It's wonderful to get at least 9-14 holes in the evening after work, often in complete solitude.

* It's Inexpensive ($0 initiation), roughly ~$325/month (not including food&cart fees)

* Course Conditioning is wonderful, the greens (Champions Bermuda) are in fantastic shape, and are very fast. The fairways/rough always seem to be in good shape, with very few bad areas.

* The Course amenities (water, restrooms, towels, sand filler, etc.) are always well stocked and easily available.

* Course workers are very nice, polite young men that are always willing to help with a smile.

CON:

* Weekends are busy. The course is very full on Sat/Sun mornings, and it can be busy in the afternoons on weekends. Their staggered tee times on the weekend (sending players off #1 and #10 simultaneously) can yield to a very full course on the weekends.

* Very high "Bubba" factor, with Texas "good ol' boys" drinking and gambling it up all over the course.

* Very high "Young Aggressive Male" factor, the guys who are 25-35 years old, with a very self confident (egotistical?) attitude. This club gives discounts for anyone under 30, so they attract a lot of these guys.

* Driving range closes 1 hour before sundown. I really dislike this feature, as I practice a lot.

* Driving range is only ~270 yards long, they discourage hitting drivers (they lose balls to the creek behind the range), so I find myself hitting 3/4 or 1/2 swing drives.

* Grass in the driving range (both full swing and short game areas) is subpar, with quite a bit of a sand base. On the plus side - this forces you to become a better ballstriker.

* Short game area is only minimally acceptable. Since not too many players seem to practice their short game, this works out well for me, as it always seems empty.

* The Greens are diabolical - very fast, and incredibly difficult slopes, and plenty of grain near the hole. Putting can be very, very difficult here, it makes other courses appear like flat carpet.

* ProShop employees seem bossy at times. I've been shooed off the range since they like to close it early. They also seem very annoyed whenever I struggle to get a tee time (as a single).

* Very cliquish membership. Impossible to break into their groups. Most people are polite, but they stick to their own groups.

Summary - I love being a club member, it's raised my game significantly, as my handicap has dropped 2.5 points just by joining, and playing/practicing more. It's secluded, and gives me a lot of relaxed feelings while walking the course in solitude and quiet. I have some gripes about this club, but I don't anticipate going back to public golf anytime soon.

Since I have been at school most of the time, and we(the golf team) have a free memebership, I havent joing any place. Now that I'm out of school I'll join someplace next year. It will most likely be Radisson Greens, since i play there most of the time now, But I also might join someplace closer to work to play after work, Calvary Club or Erie Village would be the ones I have in mind.

I currently play out of Glendale G. & C.C. here in Winnipeg. It is a pretty decent layout, just needs some help in the fairway grass growing dept. Next year the course is hosting the Canadian Senior Men's Amateur. :clapping:

Next year I will be playing out of Niakawa G. & C.C. Another good layout that has hosted several tour events back in the day. It is currently going under some reno.'s, but still has some of the best greens in the province. Also, it is 3 mins to the course, compared to Glendale's 30 mins :cheesy:

They both have websites, but I have no clue as to what the addy's are.

God Bless

I play this course, Silo Ridge G&CC near Springfield, Missouri that I consider one of the best value to play on anywhere. Very nice course for under $50 w/cart and I often play 18 holes in under 4 hours easily. Although it does have what I consider a bad hole, uphill 245yds par 3 with OB on both sides.

I was fortunate to belong to The Bridgewater Club near Indianapolis. It just hosted the JUNIOR Solheim Cup. I went back this summer to try to qualify for the US Mid-Am. (2-under 70 made it, I shot 78). Very subtle Pete Dye course. Great conditioning and well funded (privately owned by the HH Gregg folks).

I now play Fairvue Plantation in Gallatin, TN (just outside Nashville). A very nice course with enough teeth to keep a player honest. Also very new --- less than 18 months presently. A second course on the drawing board.

I live in Portland, Or and where as there are some great course nearby(Pumpkin, The Reserve, and Bandon not to far) I end up playing the city courses, mainly Rose City and Eastmoreland. Both these courses date back to the early 20's (or so) and are great lay outs, but the conditions can be sketchy and even from the tips they only play about 6500. If I had my choice, and the money, I'd play Langdon Farms everyday.
