I Think I Bought A Cursed Driver. :cheesy:

 

I got a new Exotics XLD on Ebay, it arrived with some cosmetic damage on the toe (probably damaged during shipping). The good news was that you can't see it at set-up. The ebay seller was good he offered to refund my money and pay for shipping. I decided to keep the driver and they gave me a small refund ($25).

 

I was still very excited about the new club. I have always had trouble with the driver and hoped this one would be more consistant than my old Talyor Made I got used off of a friend. The first day at the range wasn't encouraging but I was getting use to a 460cc size head. The second trip to the range was MUCH better and I was pumped to take this baby to the course.

I get to the course late on Saturday due to road construction and a accident on the way. I get to hit 5 balls at the range before tee-off. The good news was the first two holes don't require driver and I started out par-par. Life is good.

 

Third Hole

 

Take out the new stick. This hole has always been tough on me. I proceeded to take the worst swing that I taken in many years.

 

SKYMARK

 

I haven't made a skymark on any of my woods in at least 10 years and their faces are nowhere near the size of the Tour Edge. We are not talking about a little nick, we are talking about one huge ugly blemish. I still don't know how I did it because I had it on a low tee. I proceeded to pull hook the driver on my next 6 tee-offs so far left my buddies were peeing themselves.

 

I now get to 17, score doesn't matter at this point. I take the driver out one last time. I FINALLY hit it. Straight, long (for me) and I am feeling good. I am walking back to the cart when I drop the driver. It gets caught in my legs, I stumble, the club is now caught between my legs and the small fence where the cart is parked. The shaft torques up and catapults the driver and it bounces off the gravel pathway leaving two new marks, one on the back and another one on the toe.

 

This club has 18 holes under its belt and it looks like hell

Took it back to the range yesterday and of course it was working great.

 

I know Tour Edge has a lifetime warranty for defects, I wonder if I could convince them that the driver is cursed as a defect. :cheesy:

Story of the day...by a long shot.

 

I've seen a couple guys manage to trip themselves with their shafts, and there are few things funnier. Especially if they go all the way down.

I feel your pain....

 

I bought a Tour issue Bridgestone J33r, mint condition...reshafted it with an Accra shaft...get it back from the club fitter just as I'm heading out to play eighteen...tee it up on the first hole....smile at the sunlight gleaming on the crown and admire the absence of any ball marks on the face....Take a beautiful swing...nice long draw....Bomb Driver...I'm in love...put the club in the bag and intentionally leave the head cover off because I plan to fondle it at the green and it is in between all of the other head covers so it's safe. Pull away from the tee....bag falls off of the cart.....falls squarely on the face of my new driver.....Permanent smile from the concrete on the bottom of the driver. Friends die laughing!!!!

 

I like the driver more now that it has a story than before. Also makes it easier to hit off the deck in scrambles. Good luck with the TEE.
