Aldila VS Proto at the PGA Show...

finally here!!!

...hopefully some of you saw the golf channels coverage of the pga show thursday. now i can finally release the info i have been sittin on... the VS Proto is using Next Generation Multi Layer Technology. aldila is using carbon nano-tubes with a new enhanced proprietary resin system developed exclusively for golf shafts!!!

... it looks as if they are going to go ahead and release this shaft under the name VS Proto!!! this was a suggestion i made to aldila as there was a buzz over this shaft and name that cannot be bought imo. they were toyin around with a "Blue/Bleu/Blew By You" name, but i thought this had several problems:
1. no need to reference "blue" since that is the name of an already popular shaft. 2. Bleu is kinda clever, but a little too cute for such an awesome shaft. and 3. "Blew By You" needs no explanation as to the inherent problems this name may present. it looks as if "By You" will be on the shaft and the fact that this shaft "blew it by you" is understood with no need to reference blue/bleau/blew... so why not just name it VS Proto??? as he is still receiving comments thru the show, the vp of engineering and product reserch will give us the finalized name when he gets home from the show.

... i and others have been stating how blown away, pun intended ; ) we are by this shaft. now you know why. it is a combination of the latest cutting edge technology combined with multi layer technology... it is the best shaft i have ever hit, and i can't wait til you guys get to try it.

Watched today as well. Looks like a very nice shaft, especially with that color. Gonna have to give it a try. The Aldila in my driver hasn't let me down yet though!

... $149... the 95 gm hybrid shaft will really blow you away yodog. think an even smoother, tighter, better lookin and not quite as kicky version of the cp-02. : )

...not gonna happen. The original "Cinnamon" was only made in 75 grams and had a torque of about 1.8 degrees. they were VERY expensive to make and could never have been released retail. you can thank steve flesch for going thru most of their stock!!! ; ) everything they learned from the cinnamon along with newer technology is incorporated into this shaft, so this is as close as we will get...

... no price yet as john was VERY busy before the show. initally aldila will release the 65 and 80 gm wood shafts, and a 95 gm hybrid shaft. the hybrid will really blow you away yodog. think an even smoother, tighter, better lookin and not quite as kicky version of the cp-02. : )

 

yeah, that hybrid shaft could get some play immediately as i'm struggling with finding something for that slot. looking forward to giving it a spin...

I am in South africa and did not get to see it. What color is it? I expect from the post for it to be Blue- light or dark?

Hard to describe. It's one hot color though. Close to Grafalloy blue, but a little darker.

It's like an NV blue, if you can imagine....kind of electric blue I think.

I have to agree. Just saw Russ's driver and VS Proto....the blue is very nice...goes well with the Lamkin Torsion Control grip he added. I hope he can hit it as well as it looks! (cool)

They are not available at retail yet. Russ's shaft was from one of our "friends".

I've hit tons of shafts including most high end Fujis, Diamanas, GD's and the VS Proto is as good if not better than any of them. The hybrid is especially awesome. They should charge more!

I've had the 65x in a TM R7 shallow for about 4 months now and its nothing like the other nv shafts and this explains it all. Can't wait to try out a hybrid.

What does the graphic on "Cinnamon" say? I have read a fair amount about it but I don't remember actually seeing one so I don't remember how it is labeled. Or better yet, anybody have a photo of one?

The "Tour Proto" model was a modification of the original Cinnamon. It uses a different material for the torque core, and thus has a higher torque value. The original "Cinnamon" was only made in 75 grams and has the logo "Prototype 75-X", not "Tour Proto". There were never any 65 gram versions made of the original Cinnamon. The "Tour Proto's" were made in both 65 and 75 grams. Both had very soft tips (softer than NVS), and the 65 had a torque just under 3.0, while the 75 had a torque of about 2.4 degrees. The original Cinnamon "Prototype 75-X" had a torque of about 1.8 degrees.
