Cleaned up and ready to go for 2006.

 

Ping g5 with NV 85 X.

Had to be good for me to change from g2 but like the heavier shaft.

 

Callaway Great Big Bertha 2 3+ Aldila TGW 80 X

Downwind goes furthur than the driver, not the best off the deck, would welcome a suggestion for a replacement with a nice head, good shaft.

 

Macgregor VIP 1025 m X 100

had these shipped over from the states for next to nothing and absolutely love them. Great feel and feedback.

 

Vokey wedges.

love the 58 spin mill, unconvinced with the 52,may put the cleveland 900 series back in but have had my eye on a mizuno gap wedge, not sure how they perform though?

 

Note the deliberate omission of the putter! looking for something new to motivate me to practice. Seen a lot of fancy models i'm not too familiar with in the uk and would love to start a scotty collection.

Those irons are incredible...I hit a set from the MG rep and the could have been the best feeling iron I have hit in a while. Would have taken them on the spot but they were his and he wasn't selling.

 

I too had a hard time switching from the G2 to the G5 but now that I did I am hitting the ball even further/straighter!! Try the G5 3 wd....I did and now it's in the bag for good!!

In two years playing amateur events in the uk i've only seen 2 other sets of vip's. they're not very cool it seems! its the titleist and callaway show over here with mizuno being the blade of choice. Like the look of the ping fairways, will have to give them a hit.

I understand about the Macgregor's not being very popular among amateurs. I have always had a soft spot for Macgregors, my first decent set of irons were a mint set of Tourney Forged Cavity Backs. I loved them, now I play titleist.

 

Your whole set is beaut! I love those V-Foil blades and I think the fact that not that many people have them actually makes them cool. TM's are 2 a penny these days, it's nice to see someone with something a little different.

nice looking irons, back in the day MacGregor ruled the links among good amateurs and tour players. Game certainly has changed. They look really nice.

Nice irons - I've always liked those blades. It should be interesting if the rumor mill is true in that MacGregor is going to buy Hogan. How ironic if it does happen since Ben Hogan played MacGregor irons before he created his own company and line. He started his own company because he never liked the irons MacGregor made for him and was known to adjust them to his liking with a 2 x 4. This according to the recent book Ben Hogan - An American Life, by James Dodson.

would like to try some hogan blades, also there is a french based manufacturer, intelliegent golf concept (IGC) that make some sweet blades. would have thought they aren't available outside europe, check out the website.

I have all tour velvets, when i had the vip's shipped over thay had some golf pride grips i didn't really like, quite abrasive and thin, not sure what they were, didn't last long though! :cheesy:

i like the blades...they are probably the most classic lokking blades released in recent times. I love my Titleists tho...lol......

 

I think that you have Luke Donald to thank for the Mizuno craze...he's a great player and they are great sticks.

Nice Setup. I am Accquiring a Ping g5 driver And Would Like To Get The Fusion 3 wood But Are You Doing Better With The Ping 3 wood rather than the fusion. I Also Think It Might Help My Game With Driver And FW From Ping.
