best public courses in socal

Well I will be in Costa Mesa this next week and I am playing Champions Club for $35 and playing Black Gold...I am going to try and play Oak Quarry on Wednesday...

^^^ Those are three solid courses, out of the three my favorite would be oak quarry, The Retreat (Champions Club) is a pretty neat track, really tight from what i remember!

Industry Hills courses are a deal if you're over 50 and are willing to pay $249 for a 1 year weekday membership. You can play Ike for $60 and Babe for $55 during the week, any time.

San Dimas Canyon

Oak Quarry definitely gets my vote, but I was very surprised how difficult that course can be. A few times during my round there I missed the fairway by just a few yards and never found my ball. You have to hit fairways on that course or it's going to be a long day.

I was really unimpressed with "the ranch".

Oak Quarry is nice, a bit overratted I think. Oak Valley and East Valley are two of my favorites in the IE.

I agree...one of my favorites!

I play most of my golf at Tijeras Creek in OC. 80$ after noon on the weekends, pretty easy to walk on and makes you hit the ball in the fairway. I play some in SD and in the murietta area as well, SCGA(under a new name now) and RedHawk are my two fav's out that way. I've played Cross Creek a few times the past couple years, its a good test but the conditions have gone down hill each time I've played it. 18th green is half dirt.

if you haven't yet, you really need to check out Glenn Annie in Santa Barbara/Goleta. Great course - especially for the fee in comparison to some of the others (on par if not better and half the price!)

Guys im going to be in the LA area (Glendale) and towards socal , do you know of any driving ranges that you can pay a rate and hit unlimited balls ?

I will be on vacation from the UK so looking to get a little practice time is as well

I'm only aware of Trump National in Palos Verdes that has unlimited balls but I'm sure there would be others. PV would be a bit far from Glendale but you would get a gorgeous ocean view.

I've heard Robinson Ranch has an unlimited range ball deal but I don't know for sure. It's about 40 minutes from Pasadena.

Angeles National is just north of glendale maybe 15-20min and has an amazing practice area ..

Oak quarry is very overrated imo.. Oak Valley however is definitely in consideration for this topic
