What's Your Ball Of Choice

I'm sure this thead has been done, but i haven't seen one recently, so thought I'd throw it out there. I wonder how many pro v1 responses there will be, too pricy for me. I've been hitting various Wilson balls for a few months, but I hit a Taylor Made Burner and loved the feel. I definately like to stay under $25 for a dozen. I'm kind of curious to try out the Top Flite Gamer ball. I know Top Flite isn't considered top notch but I'm curious after the most recent Golf Digest hot list. Thanks.

Top Flite Gamer is a good ball....as is the D2 Feel in my opinion. Two great balls from TopFlite there.

I have been trying different balls for awhile but my top 3 now are Bridgestone E5+, TaylorMade Burner TP, and Srixon AD333.

I have no problem playing the Top Flite Gamer or D2 Feel though. I just seem to get a better combination of greenside spin/driver distance with the 3 I listed above. You may love the Gamer though...give it a shot !

The Nike Power Distance Soft (Green Box) was rated best ball for the money two years in row. Good distance and still has spin around the greens.

The Nike PD Soft runs too much for me on the greens. I get good distance out of it though off the driver. But many folks play it and like it.

i like to stay under $25 if possible, as well.

i played the Nike Mojo II and III until they were discontinued.

i played the Nike Ignite until it was discontinued.

i'm playing the Nike ONE Vapor now.

i really like the Vapor, but the Nike VR wedges just tear the cover off the ball. i'll end up with 2-3 grooves full of cover after each swing.

I bought about 300 balls from eBay and got around 35-40 ProV1x balls in the box so I started using them. They are very good, nice and soft, but a bit too good for me! I recently switched to the Titleist NXT Extreme ball which are plenty good enough for me and I have a dozen Bridgestone e6+ balls winging their way to me as I type!

P.S. It's amazing how many ProV1x balls turn up as lake balls on eBay or easily found in the rough of your local course :D

Im partial to Bridgestone/Precept. I used to only play Titleists, but I like my Bridgestones better. My ball of choice is the E6+. Ive hit some of the longest, straightest shots Ive ever hit with the E6+.

Precepts are pretty good too. They are Bridgestone's "budget" line, but they are far from being cheap golfballs. Ive played the Laddie-X, U-Tri Tour and XP3 and they all work really well, despite cost $20 or less a dozen.

Ive also tried Callaway/Top-Flite, Srixons and TM/Maxfli and while the Srixons are really, really nice; I still come back to Bridgestone/Precept.

Long off the tee, they fly straight even when your swing is perfect, good spin off the wedges and a soft feel off the putter. Im not the only one either, because Bridgestone is one of the few golf companies whose sales and marketshare is actually growing despite a down economy.

I'm still using the previous generation NIke ball - in my case the One Platinum. I bought six dozen late last year and look set to be playing it for the rest of the year and into 2010 unless I find something better.

I get the feel and spin that I want around the greens, a bit of natural lift with the long irons, and I'm able to move the ball around a bit with all the clubs. It's not an ideal fit with the driver, in that it spins too much and costs me a few yards, but as a complete package through the bag it's the best ball for me and the positives outweigh that single negative. Essentially, although I'm a pretty high spin player, I want something that's basically a modern version of a wound balata; and the old Nike fits the bill for me, even if I am giving up a few yards from the tee.

In the winter I like the Bridgestone e6+. In good weather, whatever tour quality ball I can get for the best price, (right now its Sixon URS for 20 bux a doz).

I read a fair amount of threads where ppl rave about this ball or that ball and how the "feel" so much better. I guess I'm a hack b/c the only difference I can feel is off of the club face, everything else seems to be pretty much the same. When I chip & ptich I always plan on run out, so I don't check the ball that much. I contol the run out with the height of the chip.

If I'm going to pay full price for a tour quality ball I will go with the Bridgestone B330s.

I started out not liking this years ball at all, but hey I bought the dozen so I had to use em up. As I have gone on, I have actually began to appreciate them much more and they will be my ball this year.

They are first and foremost a very straight high performance ball. The new cover is a just a bit more durable than in the past (nothing major, just enough to barely notice).

On full swings, they dont spin like some other balls do, but I hit a very high ball and generate a lot of spin on full iron shots so that is not an issue for me.

As for less than full wedges, I actually like this a lot compared to first impression. While a 1/2 SW wont suck back for me, I dont really need that, I am more than happy having its stop dead on its second bounce. Today, I actually hit a 3/4 52* from the back of my stance that was relatively low - and while nothing can really help the bounce a low ball takes, it took 2 bounces and stopped dead on the third - sounds good to me.

Short pitches have a bit of release when played firm, but not much, and not enough to really make me change anything. Feel off the putter is just fine by me, I like a bit of feedback.

All in all, very suprised at how much I find myself liking this ball. I know some hate it, and I stared hating it, but as I go, I find I like it better each time I play

Trispeed ad333 all good ball for the price

I don't understand why people talk about premium ball when someone is looking for

budget ball that performs

Playing the Nike One Tour and loving every minute of it. Can put a ton of spin on it for chip and flop shots or hit full pitching wedges that suck back to their mark. Loving the performance. The Srixon Z-Star is another great ball and is more durable than the Nike One Tour but spins just a touch less. I would highly recommend the Z-Star for someone looking for a premium ball that they will not go through after a round and the Nike One Tour for those who want everything in ONE ball. The One Tour pulled me away from the Pro V1 and I haven't looked back.
