Las Vegas - Bali Hai question

So I'm heading to Vegas Jan 7-10 with my wife, her sister and mother (don't ask) and I'm gonna get out and play one round of golf. We're not renting a car, and staying right in the heart of the strip (Imperial Palace) and want to find a place to play without spending a ton on a cab. Bali Hai is really the only course on the strip (other than the Wynn) and from what you read/see on the internet it's a great course. I feel as though it's a decent deal ($160 includes rental clubs), but curious if there is a better deal to be had or course to go to. Again, I don't want to travel too far because of the cost of a cab round trip. Looking for two things if people can help:

1. If you've played Bali Hai what did you think? Anyone played it during the winter months, how was the condition?

2. If not Bali Hai, any other recommendation and why.

I've played Bali Hai. Personally, I think it's overrated. (watch out for incoming planes)

Take a 15 minute cab ride to the Legacy. You'll play what I think is a better course, it's a US open qualifying track, great practice facility. It's always in great shape.

Anther alternative is to see if the Imperial Palace has a golf desk. If they do, they may be able to hook you up with discounted fees and transportation.

I was just in Las Vegas last week, the courses were in fine shape.

I think theyre better courses, but when I played it I didnt want to pay an expensive cab ride all over Vegas! I enjoyed the course, but would try some of the Henderson courses. Like was said above, rent a car for the day!

Not worth it...pay for the rental and go elsewhere. Heck...you could rent a car and go to Mesquite and play wolf creek for less than the car rental and the green fee and have a much better experience.

Played Bali Hai yesterday and it's in as good as shape as the other courses in the area. It's It's a very pretty course and I think you will enjoy it. It also looks like you are getting a good deal for a non-local if it includes rentals(they have good rentals there). Of course there are other courses in the city just as good but will require a car or much longer cab ride.

In the minority here but I played it in Dec. 2007 and I liked it a lot. My sister got married at mile 5 of the L.V. marathon and I was able to play golf at Bali Hai with my new brother-in-law the next day. I really liked the south pacific motif and and I thought it had some great holes. To each his own I guess, but I still think its a cool place to play considering it's right on the strip (not to mention it's well manicured).

Talk to your concierge and see if you can get a good rate at the Rio Secco. The Imperial Palace is a Harrah's property and they own the Rio Secco as well. Depending on how much you intend to play, they might be able to take care of you.

i definitely agree with the above, the planes above are a constant and were obviously extremely loud, which kinda downplayed the experience, though I enjoyed it. I was spoiled on my trip to Vegas (when the economy was good ) and I played the best courses around IMO..

If convenience is your main factor, play Bali Hai. $160 including clubs is not bad for LV. Bali Hai is pretty nice and pretty inetersting. As others have indicated it is right on the flight path to McCarron so there will be lots of jest low overhead adn the highway is on the other side of the course. I'm not a fan of Rio Secco. It is overpriced and not as interesing a layout. I'd recommend the three Paiute courses over any of the others mentioned. They're less than 30 minutes from the strip and better layouts in a beautiful setting. You can book last minute rounds on the Paiute courses at Golf now, golfhub ornotehr sites for around $80 or less (not including club rental)
