Any experience with the Graphite Design YSQ shaft?

This is the deal...I recently purchased a Graphite Design YSQ Tour Issue Stiff Shaft (65g). I'm waiting on it in the mail, and I'm stoked about it arriving soon. I used to play with the Graphite Design YS6+ Stiff shaft in my Titleist 905R driver and loved it...until it broke. I was hitting the ball straight and long, but after re-shafting it and putting in a Graffaloy Blue stiff, I've been playing military golf. (left, then right, then left, then right) Last weekend I played 3 rounds and hit 4 ob and 3 in the water off of the tee box - before finally switching over to a 4-iron for the rest of the weekend. I'm about a 4 handicap, so hitting the ball this bad off of the tee box is not usual for me. I was just wondering if anybody has played this shaft, and what you would compare it to. (Is it just the newer model of the YS6 or completely different?) All answers are welcome and thanks!

It's a good shaft, medium high launch, medium spin imo.

Quite a change, YS6 to a Blue. Blue's are stout.

I played a YS-6+ forever and I recently tried the YSQ during a demo day. The YSQ felt a little firmer in the butt section of the shaft and a little more stable overall. The feel at impact was soft and lively like you would expect from a GD shaft. The titleist chart says it launches a little higher and spins more than the YS-6 but I didn't notice it in the 909 D3 I tested it in. My swing coach swears buy his D3 with the YSQ.

I play the YSQ 65x in my 909D3 and it is one of the longest drivers I've ever hit. As with most GD shafts you get great feedback and the flexes are pretty true. You should be happy with the shaft.

Thanks a lot! Yea, the YS6 to the Blue was a tough transition. I'm looking forward to the YSQ even more now that I've heard everyone's comments. Once I have the shaft installed, I'll give you my thoughts.

I play the YSQ in my BTY fairways and love them. No other shaft has able to offer the performance of what these have done for me.

The driver had a little to soft of tip for me, but that is why they make the ST

I play a YSQ Tour AD 75g stiff in my driver, tipped 1/2", and I love it. If the ball goes left on me, it isn't because the shaft is a wet noodle... it's me. Love the feedback from it to help adjust timing with the driver, and the shot dispersion is great. Get it.

I finally received the YSQ in the mail and had it installed. I have very few words besides "amazing", "butter", and "true". I hit the ball great, and I feel like it gives me a more boring ball flight. All-in-all, GREAT purchase and an even better shaft. I loved the YS6+, but the YSQ is even better in my opinion!

Sounds like a great driver review. Can anyone comment on the YSQ Fairway version? They're ridiculously cheap right now. Maybe I should buy a couple.

I'm loving the Tour AD YSQ 75g FW shaft in my 9092 three wood.. It went great in a 910F testing as well.. mid launch and just enough spin to get decent height but not so much that it balloons.

Used to play the YSQst in my back up driver with a stiffer tip section bringing spin down.. also a good shaft for me

I've tried both the ysq 65 and ysq fwy. I also have played the ys 6+ for many years great shaft good ball flight and great spin, for me the ysq spun the ball way to much lost about 15 to 20 yards off my drive. I agree with everyone else about how stable and solid the shaft feels just to much spin for me.
another shaft that is almost identical to the ys 6+ is the pershing it is a counter balanced shaft other than that it profiles identically to the ys 6+

Nice feeling, smooth shaft. Spun a bit too much for me, but that was in comparision to the Fubuki. Overall, I would have definitely played it if I needed a touch more spin.

Mid/high launch for me, not quite as high as the Fubuki imo.

Watch out for those YSQst's, they are STOUT and for big boys. I used a 75-x YSQst tipped 1/2" in a SuperTri for one round and had to cry home to mommy.

Just to piggyback on this topic, does anyone have the measurements from the tip of the shaft to any of the writing on the shaft? I'm trying to see if one I have has been tipped. These are pretty sensitive to tipping so I want to try and get it right.

I was shopping around for budget fairway wood shafts and ran into these. At under 30 bucks, seems too good to be true. Or do these shafts not work well?

Agreed. Not to mention the Blue has only a 2" tip compared to the YS6's at 4". Generally not a good fit for a bore thru head.

The YSQ is the next evolution of the YS+. Slightly stiffer tip and butt sections, but overall very similar.

Sorry for the bump, and I'm not sure if this is a good deal or not, but this eBay seller has a bunch of these for sale.

 

They're pulls, but under/around $20 after shipping. For $20, why not?
