Best Golf Scene In A Movie

Just finished watching the golf scene from Goldfinger. "Strict rules of golf, Goldfinger?"

 

Fabulous scenery, UK caddy accent, the "whoosh" of persimmon struck balata, rules technicalities, the cruelty of match play....

 

If there's a better golf scene in a movie, I know what it is.

Casino, when Ace is meeting with the licensing board and the plane with the federal agents in it runs out of gas on the golf course behind his house. Then Nicky and his crew start hitting balls at the plane. Best movie ever.

Some excellent suggestions. When I was thinking about this my number two would have been Bob Barker in Happy Gilmore, but I think the Animal House scene might be even better.

Sadly, I can't think of a decent scene in a real golf movie. They all remind me of Jim Nantz at the introduction of a Masters broadcast....how pretentious and schmaltzy can you get!!??

My number 2 would be long drive competition in Tin Cup between Don Johnson and Kevin Costner.

Not my fave, but worth mentioning...The Italian Job when they go to see Skinny Pete who is a 400lb Samoan at the driving range. The chick keeps putting golf balls down and he just sort of swats at it. We could all use one of those chick.

With so many scenes in Caddy Shack that could be the best its hard to pick a scene from another movie. I do however like the part in Tin Cup when Roy has the the shanks on the driving range. "I look like an idiot!" -- "Well how do you think you look putting those chili peppers up Lee Janzens rear?"

Maybe my favorite from Tin Cup is the scene where he beats the guy in the money game with a rake, shovel and baseball bat.

I also love the start of Space Jam with Bill Murray, Bird, MJ and Neeeeewwwman playing closest to the pin...

Anyone remember a movie called Dead Solid Perfect? Starred Randy Quaid.
In one scene after a poor shot that results in another misssed cut, Quaids character says to his caddy "pack your bags". His caddy replies, "I never unpack"
Kinda cool line.

Also the caddies betting on whether that player will eat his booger or not, from Caddyshack

Just saw Casino last night. I think I've seen it before but it was called Goodfellas. the Airplane scene was good, but I'm still going with Goldfinger.

Where did they find all those clothes for DeNiro? He looked like he dressed in a Crayola box!

This scene from Legend of Bagger Vance has to be one of the best IMO, also the scene where Damon's character is practicing at night hitting balls and Smith's character walks up to him in the dark; when Damon's character says he could have killed him and Smith's character reply's something along the lines of watching hit hit balls all over the place and figured he was safest up the middle.....

I remember Dead Solid Perfect. It was an HBO film, back when HBO first started producing their own movies. Randy Quaid and I believe Jack Warden? I've checked a few times and I don't believe it's available on DVD yet.

I always liked the scene in Tin Cup where he keeps going for the green instead of laying up in the final round of the US Open. "Gimme another ball!". Who among us hasn't felt like that at one time or another when a hole has gotten the best of us. Just a complete refusal to let the course win, even if you do card a 12.

I know its a TV show so it doesn't exactly fall into this category, but the "Black Swan" episode from Curb Your Enthusiasm is by far one of the funniest golf related scenes I've ever seen on TV or a Movie.

It's pretty funny at the biggining of Bobby Jones Stroke of Genius when Bobby is hitting balls in the yard and he hits one bad and says "s*** fire". I just find it funny that a kid that young is cussing
