You cant change the loft without changing the face angle with the technology that is on the market right now. Titleist big advantage is that you can change the loft and face angle indpendently of the lie angle you want.
Basically, Titleist head are 0.5* open on the standard loft setting. If you go with the 0.75* less loft option, you basically open the driver 1 degree meaning that the overall face angle is now 1.5* open.
I've ordered my shafts to be aligned on the 0.75 less loft setting but I'll see if it does that big a difference when I receive them... which is not suppose to be soon unfortunately

My apologies for questioning your eyes...

My driver came today, and the face angle obviously changes when the loft is changed. I was fortunate in that I ordered less loft and closed (looked very open with less loft), and when I moved the rings back to the standard A-1 position, it fit my eye and the shaft orientation didn't change from what I had ordered. Lesson learned, never trust what you read and order blind. I will be ordering a second driver anyway in 9.5° to have one of each loft when I test this RIP 70 shaft.

Thank you for setting me on the correct path.

KEVIN- I WAS WONDERING HOW YOU ORDERED IT WITH LESS LOFT AND CLOSED? WHAT EXACTLY DID YOU ORDER? I THOUGHT YOU JUST ADJUSTED IT YOURSELF? IM CONFUSED BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT CAME 0.5 DEGREES OPEN AND YOU ADJUSTED IT YOURSELF. PLEASE FILL IN THE BLANKS FOR ME, THANKS

If you are fitted for the driver, they send Titleist your desired setting with the order. They send it to you in this setting. This is mainly so the shafts logos are appropriate to your settings. You can change it with the wrench all you want.

... And you can't get it with less loft and closed. I misunderstood based on the chart. If you want closed, order less lofted driver and dial the loft up using the system. You can also order it pre dialed so the shaft and grip graphics come properly oriented.

Cool video from my instructor. I am not the one in the video, cool info on what goes into the fitting process. I just went through it yesterday with him as well.

Just got back from hitting the 910 drivers for the first time, I think my old loyal servant R9 (460) with an oban devotion is going to be replaced with a D3 with a RIP. Loved the feel, flight and accuracy. Need to go on the launch monitor and get set up correctly but very very impressed with this driver.

We certainly could have filmed something with you! Maybe a "followup 910 video" when you come back to the studio!

Interesting that the fitting ended with his launch angle so low and it seemed like relatively high spin. With 170 of ball speed how much distance is he leaving on the table with such a low launch (8 degrees). Was his angle of attack measured?

At our local Golf Mart attached to the display is the grid showing the settings for fade/draw/loft/lie like you see all over Titleist's website but on the right side it has a "FACE ANGLE" column showing that indeed the face angle changes along with the loft. I'll take a picture and post next week. Why has this particular chart never been seen anywhere else?

Certainly going to book myself in for a custom fit session to see what figures come up on the launch monitor. So far I have hit the D3 with the RIP (60) D2 with the RIP (60) and the D2 with the Ahina (72) going by the results on the range with the naked eye liking the D2 with the Ahina the best but as ever worth getting custom fit and seeing what they can do!.

I just posted this in Zach Johnson's WITB thread but thought I'd post it here too.

Per Zach on Twitter: @ZachJohnsonPGA "For all wondering...my new 910D2 is 8.5 deg...I may continue to use Mitsubishi Blue Board (73g) or new A'hina (60 or 70g) at B1 setting!"

Has anyone here determined where the optimal sweet spot is on this? I was speaking with a very reputable clubfitter today, and he mentioned that these heads tend to have their sweet spot lower and slightly towards the heel, versus other drivers. Just curious what others have seen?

Does anyone know what the upcharge for the GD DI-6 is?

Find that very interesting. All of the talk on here is of the D3 but Zach Johnsons got the D2 in play.
I just had my first session with both the D2 & D3, both with the project X stiff and while I found the 9.5 D3 to be ok I thought the 10.5 D2 was phenomenal. The ball just seems to hang there forever, I have no idea how far it was going but it appeared to be a long way, certainly longer than the Burner Superfast TP and the SMT 455 Deepbore I compared it with. I was consistently hitting a slight fade which is my preferred shot shape, it sounded sweet, the only drawback is aesthetically it's pretty average, however I'll take the performance over the looks.
It was cold and snowing at the range today but as soon as it clears I'm booking a fitting session and if it goes as well as I think it will I'll the plastic will take a bashing.

I tried the 910 D3 8.5 out a few days ago with the Project X X-7C3 and the Aldila RIP. As far as the shafts go, I'm not a fan of the Project X in this club. The head already has such a low spin, low trajectory profile that a boardy, low spin, low trajectory just isn"t neccesary. The ball flight with the Project X was straight, but really flat. The RIP, on the other, felt amazing. Aldila has been my brand of choice for a while now, and with this shaft it will continue to be. Ball flight is great with the D3 head.

In regards to the 910 D3 head, other than the lie/loft adjustment technology, I can't tell any difference between it and the 909 D3 head. The black face looks sharp, but being more of a traditionalist, I would much rather have a silver face. After hitting this club, the conclusion I have come to is that if you a 909 D3 and don't mind not being able to adjust it, you should save the $500 and just replace your shaft with RIP (which is what I plan on doing). Otherwise, definitely go for the 910. Still has the same quality ball-striking as the 909 plus the added adjustability. Can't go wrong.

Im guessing thats the cost of the shaft alone, i had the upcharge and it was only $125 but I was also buying the head so it was in addition to, not a stand alone price.
