Help me pick the third course to play in Scottsdale

Playing in mid Feb with a group of guys and was looking for input on which course to play on the first day. Hoping to get off by 1:00pm after flying into Phx.

Range of handicaps from 6 to 26 but most people are in mid teens.

Trying to stay under 110

Here are the 3 that I was thinking of since they are all about 40 mins from the airport

Superstition Mountain (either course?)

Estrella

Eagle Mountain

Already playing Wekopa and the Boulders the other two days.

Thanks!

My first choice form the three you listed would be either course at Superstition Mountain. My understanding is that they open up only one of the two to the public each day, so you won't be able to choose which one you play. However, they are both at the top of the list from the choices you provided. I believe that the afternoon rate is $85.

Eagle Mountain is a good warm up course since it is not as tough as many of the others in the area, but it is not in the same league as We-Ko-Pa or the Boulders IMO.

I haven't played Estrella Mountain or Golf Club of Estrella (not sure which one you meant.) They are two unrelated courses. I am returning to PHX in Feb and plan to play GC of Estrella. It has gotten good reviews from a number of sources.

Other choices close to the airport that you can play for under $100 are Whirlwind, Longbow, Las Sendas and Papago. I'd suggest a slightly further drive and choose Vista Verde to the north or Southern Dunes to the South, depending on where your lodging is. Afternoon rates at these courses are under $100.

Since you seem to be willing to drive, I would consider the Raven @ Verrado. A little bit closer and a better course than the Golf Club Estrella. The drive is mostly freeway (about 32 miles from PHX airport). A great Fought/Lehman course, nice facility and very good restaurant. Afternoon rate (or golfnow) should be well under your target.

Of the ones you've listed.
GC Estrella would be my 2nd choice, Superstition 3rd (good golf, not special), Eagle Mtn. 4th (many like it but I'm not a fan).

Can't go wrong really with any of those. Enjoy your visit. We-Ko-Pa Saguaro is my favorite public course in the state.

Raven is an awesome track...you might consider Dinosaur Mountain as well.

awesome thanks guys.

I think I've narrowed the list down to Superstition Mtn , Raven and GC Estrella
I should add that we care more about views and conditions than the actual shot value.
I've read Superstition has great conditions but Raven has some awesome unique holes?

Raven does have some interesting holes including one where you can hit over a huge boulder and have a shorten shot into the green. The conditions there were wonderful. But based upon what you are looking for, you should look at the Gold Canyon/Dinosaur Mountain website. They have some amazing views and the conditions are as good as you'll find anywhere.

+1 on Gold Canyon - Dinosaur Mountain. I've played some of the real prestigious course in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area and other like Eagle Mountain, etc. The most fun I've had playing golf out there is the Dinosaur Mountain course. It's my #1 recommendation for golf there.

Wow that looks awesome but may be too much for some of the guys . But maybe that will help win my bets!

You might want to check out the website golfnow.com/phoenix for all of your golf. You can find discounted rounds including Dino Mountain down to $72.00.

Thanks for all your help guys.
Going with Superstition Mountain, Wekopa, and Boulder South. Couldn't convince the guys to drive 50 mins to Dinosaur mtn!

Thats a good line up. Enjoy

FYI - Gold Canyon (Dinosaur Mtn) is 5 minutes from Superstition Mountain.
