Great looking new line... I have some comparison pics from the forged CB and the Carbon CB... Less offset, very nice looking... I will post a review once i get to hit them... Thanks!

I forgot to mention that the sole on the new clubs has a little different grind... you can kinda tell by the light on the second picture... :man_in_love:

AHHH i wish i would have waited for the new baffler!! I tend to lose mine to the right occasionally

Then you wouldn't want the new one with less offset.

And those irons will probably end the production of the forged irons. Not a big loss however since they wrecked the original design with the CB version. After the SSs by comparison they had left the forged market anyway. The SSs had a pretty good run sales wise mostly due to a cult following. The CBs however just gathered dust on shelves. I would imagine they will be closed out soon with the new ones coming. The offset in the new models appears to be less to the eye than the forged CBs anyway. NO they aren't forged. The only forgings they will have are the 5-6 sets of the australian K blade muscle backs on the tour. They aren't going to bring these to market period, just like the Tour X speed drivers aren't coming to market. So going forward there will be the Tour Cobra equipment and the Retail Cobra equipment.

Why? The offset is designed to reduce hook tendencies.

Nope, you have it backwards, more offset generally = more hook.

I always thought the offset in the original ping irons was to help slicers and to help with ball trajectory. At least that is what I was told by Karsten Solheim.

Karsten Solheim always told me he had fun messing with Sandy's head. :cheesy: ;)

Sure wasn't to produce a hook. :man_in_love:

I am serious though, that was the reason he gave me (along with preventing the club from turning in your hand) when I picked up a 1 iron for my set of KIs. In those days you could go by the factory and pick up your club. He would give you a tour personally in the very early days if you were lucky enough to catch him. This was after the USGA ruled that the shaft bend he had in the 69, 68, and anser models (forged by the way) was nonconforming. So he decided to put the offset in the head with his first cast iron the KI. He had a fantastic memory some 20+ years later I saw him and Louise at a U.S. Open driving range watching Ken Green and he remembered my name. At the time I was having a hard time getting the S wedge for a BeCu iron set I had (in short supply). One phone call later I had my wedge 3 days later.

Sandy,

What a great story! Unbelievable that he could remember your name after 20 years. I've always heard Mr. Solheim was a wonderful person, it's nice to have that backed up by one of us! Thanks for sharing. :cheesy:
