This is the Proto. Retail limited run, 2006 , supposedly around $750. Distributed by Reps to key accounts:

1st made 2006 Napa Valley in a black oxide finish with a circle sight dot, a bullet bottom sole, a vertical sightline and '1' handstamped by Scotty on the back hosel.

The Scotty Cameron Napa Valley is brand spankin' new. It actually has not been released yet, and there is no set date for its release.

Today I talked to my local golf shop about getting one. They're gonna contact our Titleist rep on Monday (my birthday!) to get me one. However, they shouldn't be $750. More like $400 to $450. According to someone on TCC, wholesale cost to Titleist dealers is $300.

It is a line on the flange to make it similar to the Wilson 8813, which is basically an 8802 with a sightline and line on the flange. I guess while the Napa is Scotty's tribute to the 8802, the Napa Valley should be his tribute to the 8813.

Its a pretty putter but i'm not a fan of the Napa style. To each his own, thats why they make all different kinds and styles of putters.

Look for the first few of them to sell for $1000 plus on ebay. $450 sounds about right for COST.

I don't mind the 8813 line on it, but sight dots just never look good on 8802 style putters.

 

My guess on the valley is the raise the CG for the blade purists.

Sounds plausible. I wonder how much the headweight ends up. Although I have found 340-345 is about right for heel shafted putters. Higher than 355 and I tend to "swing the gate closed" a bit fast.

Why do you all think they will be SO expensive? Last year's limited edition was the American Classic VII, also a Napa but in Pro Platinum with copper/brass weighting. The retail price on that putter was $399.

You could be right.....I was looking at it from a limited 500 holiday release perspective. This is a 2006 release (quantity) The holiday putters that come out early usually sell for big numbers at first, drop off, then rebound depending on the demand, but they are 500 pieces each.

I think this putter will be going for big numbers, around $750 at least for the first few released, as were the ACVII (ebay). I would be suprised if these were Japan and Europe only. One has already made it into the hands of tablerock. I think Cameron uses tablerock as a showcase of what's to come. Jim Butler does a great job teasing with early released pics
