beware!!!
I got this club and something seemed funny. I decided to switch the v2 85 fairway x flex standard length, for a diamana 103x . I mentioned to the guy that is putting my new club together that it seemed too boardy. He put it on a frequency machine and he said no wonder, its playing as an XXX! He said the stiff shaft plus the bore thru made it play like a tomato stick. I am glad its the club and not me. For those wanting this shaft, it would be wise to try it first, or go with a flex weaker.

Every Titleist wood with the bore-through shaft that i have ever picked up and waggled has felt too boardy to me, regardless of the shaft, which has kept me away. The 906F2's that i checke out yesterday all felt way too stiff for my liking.

I have the UST V2 fairway 85 in X flex in mine, and I had ordered the club with 1 extra wrap under the grip, and the standard Titleist velvet cord grip. When I got the club initially, it really did feel very stiff, and the grip felt larger than I expected. I pulled the grip off, and there were 3 wraps under the grip. I installed a new grip, 10 grams lighter than the Velvet cord, with only one wrap, and this made enough difference that the shaft felt just right for me. I think the V2 fairway shaft in this head is a little stiffer at the tip than the driver shaft, so it has a slightly boardy feel to it, but for me at least, after tinkering just a bit, it is now perfect.

I'm with ya...I picked up my 906/V2-Stiff on Friday, it played like at least "XX" flex. It felt horrible, if I could get the ball in the air, the flight was nasty with no contol. I went back and got one with the NV, even though I'm not a big fan of this shaft, it plays true to flex, is real solid and has really impressed me. I'll play it while I'm getting a Diamana put in the other one.

Sounds like there's a glitch in the V2's...

IMHO, I like the 906 better than the 904. Besides the V2 reading like a triple x flex, the 906 set up is very square, and I have yet to hit a hook with this club. I also like the face and sole of the club more. Once I get the diamana in the 906, I let you know how the ball flights compare in the 13* model.

I got my 906f2 with a stiff v2 yesterday. I am fighting with getting my hands in front of the club at impact and not snapping my wrists, so i manage to hook ever once in a while but when it all comes together i am loving the club, i crushed a couple off the tee, i do admit it feels all shaft with a tiny lil head but so far so good for me, i do also play a v2 75stiff in my 905r and tried a nv 65 in a 905t and prefer then v2

this is my first fairway wood purchase in 8yrs, i just recentlly started playing again but when i played years ago i always struggled getting fairways off the deck but didnt have a problem with this one, i love it i can work the ball either way, and really get it up in the air

2 flexes stiffer suggests a defect in the shaft but thats besides the point.

The bore through does make it play a little stiffer in the tip (which I link alot) so if you want it to play a littleless stiff I would say just get it wither inserted a shorter depth or go a flex weaker. I went a flex weaker so I could still benefit from the bore-through (better feel IMHO).

Anyways, stiffer tip or not its a great head.

Got my 906 with the v2 shaft on tuesday. At first I had some trouble with it but this weekend I started hitting it great. I love how it looks at setup and it's a solid club. I also have the 905 driver with the v2 shaft. The driver is the 75 and the 3 wood is the 85. I use Ping G2's and a Taylor Corza putter. I am a 4 handicap

I love the V2 in Stiff flex, the heavy V2 is a players model and perfect for a players fairway wood like this. No defects here, just a heavy low torque shaft. The standard Stiff flex shafts of today are extremely soft and of no benefit to a strong player so I'm personally glad to find a "stock" shaft worth leaving alone. I suggest ording with a softer tipped model or moving along to another fairway wood model. Another optioned as mentioned would be to pull the shaft and re-insert a bit shallower.

Hmmm.. I have a 906/V2 stiff on the way. I'm very intrigued, to say the least, to see how this club will play. I have the 905R/V2 stiff. I plays true to flex. So many manufacturers seem to have shafts that play a flex weaker than the stated flex these days. I'm really curious to see if the 906 plays true to flex now.

Is it really THAT stiff, or have people become accustomed to shafts that are labelled stiff and play to a regular flex? That might be an interesting thread all it's own....

Nah, this sucker is STIFF.

I like it, but it's definitely stiffer than I expected.

FYI, Titleist put the WRONG GRIP on these things too...the V2 has a .605 butt, but Titleist put a .580 Tour Velvet grip as stock.

I know it's minute, but I can feel the difference.

Nah, I thought you match the butt with grip diameter to have a consistent feel? I always put .580 grips on my irons, as the butt is .580. Conversely, I put .600 grips on woods, well, because the butt is .600...

Maybe I have it wrong...wouldn't be the first time!

Why are people using the V2 in a fairway wood? IMO i don't think that shaft profile is the "friendliest" in a fariway wood application ESPECIALLY A BORE THROUGH.

Just my opinion

Because Titleist put it in there...plus I hit my old 3 wood too high...

For some reason, standard men's is a .580 on a .600 butt. I don't know how that got started, but that's how it is. Also, I highly doubt your irons have a .580 butt as Dynamic Golds are .600 butts.

You're not the only one. I swapped the .580 stock grip on my 905R for a .600 Tour Velvet Cord. Much better. I can feel the difference too.

Had my first opportunity to spend some quality time at the range with my new 906F2 15 degree with the V2 85 FW (stiff) in it. I didn't experience the same issues as reported earlier in this thread - had no problem getting the ball airborne off the deck and got a nice, medium height, penetrating ball flight - and really good distance as well. No problem hitting controlled high fades. Great off the tee, and no issues at all with going left (much better than the 904 this club replaced). If I continue to like this shaft as much as I do today, I'd consider the V2 85 driver shaft as I hear it is more stable than the V2 75 I currently play.

That's why I knew I had to have it. Although I didn't think of this before, the 980F I replaced had a huge tendency to hook HARD. The 906F2 with heavier, stiffer shaft does a MUCH better job.

The V285 fairway shaft is good, but I wish it had the kick of the V275.

This is just my .02, but I have the 906F2 with the V2 Tour 86 stiff in mine and I was hoping that from what everyone here has said about it playing at least a flex stiffer that I was going to be able to get away with the softer stiff, but to my disapointment the V2 Tour 86 plays to flex and I'm hitting hooks with it off the tee due to the soft flex. My SS is 112-115 in case it matters, and I love this shaft in terms of feel and distance, and I hit it fairly straight off the turf as long as I swing slow and smooth. So I am able to get it swapped out for the same shaft but in the X-flex, and hopefully that will tighten it up. I talked to my Titleist Tour Rep. last night and he told me that the V2 Tour 86 shafts are Driver shafts and have a little softer tip profile than the Stock V2 85 Fairway that they put in the Retail 906F2's, and the Tour 86's work really well in the 3-woods, and do play to flex.
