Why are people so obsessed with adjustment?

Adams, Callaway, Cleveland can't be adjusted, and no one had a problem with the G15 either. Shouldn't people be more concerned about performance?
+1. I play with a few friends who have TM adjustable drivers and they haven't actually adjusted them in years!

I couldn't care much about the weights, but it is nice to have the flexibility to swap in different shafts without having to go through the process of pulling and installing new shafts. In addition, not everyone has access to fitting places that have all the different shaft options. In fact, I would say that most don't. So the player has to settle for the woeful selection of shafts available from the retailer or try and fit themselves, and that is easier with an FCT head than it is without. With the G15 people had only two fitting options unless they were lucky enough to be near a place with the Ping driver fitting cart. It appears that won't change with the G20 unless more shafts are announced than the two TFC shafts that Golf magazine mentioned. Finally, in my case, I received a lesson and now I am hitting the ball too high with my 10.5* driver, so I either need to reduce the loft or get a lower launching shaft. Whatever I do it is easier to do it with an FCT head. It isn't that people can't get by without an adjustable driver. We have done it for years after all, but it is tremendously more convenient for the golfer if they have it even if it is used only once. It isn't like it hurts the people that don't use it.

Sounds like the i20 line isn't done. But it won't be coming this fall like the G20 irons and woods and hybrids, forged anser wedges, and maybe the precision milled anser putters. Rather the dealers have been told the i20 line (irons and woods) will be refreshed/new next spring. A good idea giving ping something new for the spring instead of only bringing out stuff in the fall..

Yes. What if the i20 Driver is adjustable. Will all the negative posters run out an buy one?

I am sure many would if it is better than the competitors' offering.

I really like the look of this.

The shapes on the sole look good, and not over the top.

More importantly the head from top down looks slick. The alignment aid is solid as usual. As far as the negative appearance posts- the badging is the first thing I notice when I'm looking for irons. Once their in the bag, it's the last thing I notice..... ballflight however... is very noticeable.

On adjustability, I've had a handfull of adjustable drivers. I think it's got it's market but the more I play around with a driver, the more frustrated I can get with it. My 910 D2 is a fine driver, but once I found what spot I liked it in, I haven't changed it once.

I like a square to slightly (1-2 degrees) shut look. I'm betting I can find that with the G20. No need for change.

Will they offer a 7.5 tour head in the G20? Any insiders know?
I saw a 8.5 in another thread. Maybe they're offering 8.5 and 10.5 this time.

I for one like the other trend in drivers: decreased weight. Which is why I'm a little disappointed to read that the G20 is heavier than the G15. Adjustability tends to add weight so I'm not a big fan of it. And I feel like there are already quite a few options when driver shopping. Just keep it clean, simple and light for me. As for adjusting on the fly, does anyone actually do it while playing or is it all theoretical?

Okay, at this point I've seen pics of 8.5*, 9.5* and 10.5*

Anybody know what lofts they're really going to release? All three?
All three lofts wil be released.
Thanks. That's good info. I think this is a good move for Ping. Lets hope actual lofts are closer to stated lofts this time around.

Bob 57, just me, I wouldn't make my buying decision based one way or another on whether or not I can adjust it. However, if I like the shape and performance I'll work with it either way. The way I look at it, not being a professional club fitter, I'm going to look at 3rd party advice anyway to get a great fit. The only difference is how much work the clubfitter has to do.

I love that it's not adjusteable. I think it's great that there are adjustable drivers for people that want that, but they're not for me. I was fitted by a competent fitter who has a Ping driver fitting cart - I'm lucky enough to live close to one - and because Im happy and confident in the fitting if I start coming across the ball it's my swing that needs work, not the driver. If I play a course where I need to go right to left or left to right I do that with my swing. If I didnt live near a fitting cart it would be hard to get a good fitting for the right shaft, but if I needed an adjustable driver to fit myself where would I get all the shafts to do that and how long would that take? I also got my current driver through the Wrx dept. so it was fit for loft and lie as well. I guess it's different strokes for differnt folks, but I'm glad there is still a choice for those of us that dont want adjustable drivers and Im glad it's the Ping drivers that I prefer that didnt go in that direction.

Adjustable or not, the G20 looks like it might be a winner. If it's better than my G15, it will go in the bag. As for Westwood going back to his G10 for the Open, I would guess it was a matter of having more confidence with his gamer rather than changing just prior to a major. Anyone know what he is playing this week in Scotland?

I like it, I don't need it to be adjustable, and I'll probably buy one.

We have about the same group of thirty guys who play in our master skins game every weekend. Most of them are lower handicap players who all can post some good scores. I can think of exactly two of them who have adjustable drivers.......and they both have stock shafts.

My oldest son is on staff with Titleist, he got his driver and three wood this spring with Diamana Whiteboards, loves them and has never adjusted them.

Just don't think it's that big a deal.

Custom fitting only works in theory if the actual product you receive is correctly built too spec which it will absolutely not be, OEM tolerances are aweful. This is why adjustabilty works so well in the REAL WORLD. I played this driver for a week already (don't ask) and it's very long, face is actually open and the sound is good. I just couldn't get over the size, it's a big as a frying pan...BB
